Looking for a spot to change my own oil (I just prefer to know what I'm using/putting into my truck; in this case Mobil 1 Synthetic+Filter). Any spots like that around Denver? I could also just buy an oil catch and do it somewhere random, but then I'd either have to carry it with me or toss it (more likely).

Any place that sells motor oil is required to recycle used oil also.

Was more looking for a place to borrow a catch pan and do the change. Always usually dump/recycle oil at Advanced Auto, Autozone, etc.

Hey man! I live at an apartment complex in the city and happy to share what i do. I usually go to walmart and buy oil, filter, and a $2 bucket then ensure i have all the required tools 14mm socket and filter wrench. I head to the closest autoparts store, find the most level parking spot on the edge of the parking lot then drain my oil in the bucket, swap filters and refill. Since i am at the autoparts store, i just take the bucket inside to properly dispose properly.

All said and done, it usually takes me 10minutes and costs me $25 with no mess or carrying oil in my truck.

Put your used oil back into the container, take it back to the store you bought the new oil from. They will recycle it.

I promise once you use a $2 bucket, youll never use a oil catch ever again. They stink and always spill.

Be sure to make sure the autoparts store oil recycle bin isnt full.

Full synth oil is $20 and a OEM filter is ~$5 at walmart. When needed, i buy shop towels at the autoparts store for cleanup as a thank you.

Oil catches literally always get gunky and messy to keep around and reuse.

Just as you said, buy one of these and do it in any parking lot or where ever you normally park. Once you're done, you can bring this to anywhere that recycles oil and pour it in the bin. Any auto parts store takes used oil these days.

I'd also recommend installing a Fumoto oil valve while you do the oil change to ease the process for next time, then you really don't even need the catch bin and could use an old 5qt jug (warning- will be very close to full).

True, but a little brake parts cleaner will keep them decent, or just do what I do and keep in in an old Amazon box with a plastic garbage bag under it.

I do it in my yard. A truck sets up high enough to easily get under. I do take the Honda somewhere. I use the tray from an old refrigerator to catch the oil. Use a funnel to pour the used oil back in the 5 qt jugs and then recycle it.

It’s not the messiness, it’s the trying to pour the used back in the container.
I’m sure a bucket would be an easier pour.

I also recommend the Fumoto valve. It's so stupid easy. The oil filter is the PIA. But if you're willing to start the engine and pull all the oil out of the filter, there's no need to put a bottle under the filter drain.

I bought a 6 gallon "fish" bucket 20 years ago. I fill it with used oil and then take it to the auto parts store when it is at about 5 gallons.

Used cardboard under the truck is always a good idea but I assume you all knew that.

One last thing, especially with the Fumoto, is that you can quickly start the draining and leave it overnight or for several hours to allow all the oil to flow out. I also like to pour about a ½ qt. of new oil in and allow it drain to pull what remaining oil that's in the pan out.

Y'all starting engines to pull oil?? The filter spewing out oil is indeed a PITA.

I don't have one but a FUMOTO drain valve can be fitted with a hose and then be drained directly into any type of jug mouth without issue and has a on/off valve so you cant overfill and make a mess, if I was stealth OCIing my oil might be a very good investment.
