Overheard Temp/Compass

I have a 2009. Started having problems years ago and have been able to mess with a little solder and kept it going. Went out again and when trying to mess with it, the little chip totally fell off and cannot locate it.

I now Dorman makes an aftermarket one for 2005-08. Are there any aftermarket parts for 2009-15?

Is my only option to get a brand new one or do without? (local dealer said $415!!!)

 

I have used this guy's service to fix my Dad's 2009 Compass. He fixed it same day since I am local, but you can contact him and have it shipped. He only charged me $25.

I had already searched. Never found any purchase options, only people getting them repaired or for other years.

 

I got the new and improved circuit board for my 07 years ago, something like $80-90. Replaced it myself. I’ll see if I can find the link. Might be a bit more $$ but shouldn’t be multiple $100s more.

 

The part is actually different starting in 2009. I mistakenly bought the older model once before and it does not work.

Yeah, like I said, that part will not work in both 2005-08 and a 2009. That is incorrect info on that page.

I bought this OEM Toyota replacement module on Amazon. I have a 2008, and have no idea if it will work for your 2009 Tacoma. It took about 5 minutes to install.

Just looked through this thread, and it appears that module will not work with a 2009 Tacoma.

Check car-part.com I got my whole console for my 2009 with compass / temp readout for 40$ shipped. It’s a junkyard inventory site. So the parts are used.

 

So I found a used part and ordered it. We shall see if it works. Does anyone know if there is something that can be done to help prevent this problem from occurring?
