Quite frankly the "car motor" argument is pretty weak. Every manufacturer uses their engines in multiple different areas. I had a Mustang with a 3.8L V6 that was also found in the Ford Freestar minivan and the Ford Ranger/Mazda B3000. The 2.7L Ecoboost is the most popular motor in the F150 and I believe it got its start in the Ford Focus. The Chrysler Pentastar 3.6L found in the Jeep has also been in the Caravan for a long time. I can go on and on. The other fact of the matter is the 4Runner came out a year sooner than the Tacoma. If Toyota didn't feel it was good enough to be used in the Tacoma, they wouldn't have put it in there.

This is the opposite of winning the lottery. I'd be doing everything I could to get out from under it. Even if it meant selling the repaired truck at a loss with 300 miles which would be worst case scenario. I doubt they will be able to get it back on the road inside 15 days though.

If by that, you mean those who have unequivocally agreed with everything you have said? Welcome to the Internet. Opinions will always vary....and often times don't align with what we want to hear. Reach down....pull your up panties....stop lashing out like a child who hasn't got the validation he thinks he deserves.

Having said that....sucks about your truck....and I genuinely mean that. If I put 300 miles on a new vehicle and something important grenaded on it I wouldn't be happy either. Would I ask for a new replacement truck? Sure....couldn't hurt. But at 52 years old I found out long ago that life is too short to bog down in unadulterated horseshit.

The dealership actually owes you nothing other than the repair itself.....and even that is optional as they actually reserve the right to send you packing if you want to be an asshat.

Toyota is the manufacturer that warranties the product, not the dealer. They owe you only the repair that puts the vehicle back to it's pre-breakdown condition. That's it. Nothing else. That's what the warranty states. Anything above and beyond that is at the soul discretion of Toyota corporate or whatever dealership makes the repair.

    That's it....period.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
I have had a dozen Toyota Trucks (mostly Tacomas) and my 2007 Tundra lost a transmission at about 500 miles. Toyota shipped in a new transmission, gave me a loaner and a 125,000 Platinum Warranty that basically covered the whole vehicle.

I was very happy and everybody won on that deal.

The lack of compression in a cylinder must be following you from your trade

but really, I’m headed down to a dealer tomorrow to see if I can’t trade my truck in for a 2020 STI. How’s you like yours?

There could be anywhere from 1-4 motors, but yea, the offroad capabilities could be really nice. The number of motors would then effect differentials and need for a locker.

Most EVs still have hydraulic brakes, and AFAIK they all have a coolant system to keep the batteries cool. Brake fluid is going to last what, 40-50k between changes? I think the battery coolant system on the Tesla is rated for 100k miles.
