I forget exactly, it was some overly dramatic whiny title along the lines of never buy a new Tacoma......

Can someone with a OEM parts manual determine if all the valve springs (both intake and exhaust) are exactly the same (based on part #) regardless of the cylinder? Furthermore, have the valve spring part numbers been superseded during production since MY2016?

Man, after reading all of the complaints over the years about my pretentious turd gen, mini-van-powered 2017 off road go cart — I’m still glad as hell I put my chips in on this awesome truck and no longer own a Passat wagon, Xterra, Subaru or any of the other shit-show cars I’ve rationalized owning and pouring money into!

I even like my stock chrome grill!

3.5 in my wife's 2020 Highlander feels like a completely different motor. Much more responsive and a lot quieter. Of course it is mated to an 8 speed transmission but it is amazing how much different it feels. I can't imagine that the Highlander weight can be much different than a Tacoma.

Actually, my metric friend....the 2GR made it's debut in 2004 in the '05 Avalon....before trickling down to other Toyota models and up to some Lexus models. :D

Of course i was being sarcastic as usual. I actually do love this 3.5, i think its an awesome engine.

But i heard before many times that the 3.5 in other vehicles feels much smoother.

And no place to plug it in to charge it in the desert or the mountains. Oh we can just carry a gas powered generator, problem solved!

Smaht. Definitely drive a brand new car like you stole it, not like every car manufacturer tells you to break in a car. I wonder if this can lead to more severe quality issues later on?
I don't get this mindset. Is the logic that if it was created bad, it will always be bad? If it was rebuilt to OEM specs, and you got a lifetime warranty out of it, I'd be all about it. If it was a widespread issue, sure, I don't want the truck repaired if it'll just keep happening.

However, it sounds to me that it was a manufacturer defect and a small run of trucks that uses that lot of parts may be impacted. That means when the engine gets rebuilt, it is very unlikely that they will be pulling from the same lot. This leaves it in the hands of the mechanics rebuilding the engine to get it right, which, sure, introduces more variation than the assemblers or robots that literally do this day in and day out for a living, but they're not required to work within the same time constraints, either. I'd 100% be on board with a rebuilt engine with an extended warranty.

Case in point. Anyone who works in manufacturing or R&D knows that Japanese Auto manufacturers are the gold standards.

Ironically , if the generator was big enough, it would be a more efficient use of gasoline.

There are more and more charging stations around “popular” off road trails as the days go by . I think they are trying to accommodate weekend warriors. I’d wait an hour to save 60 bucks on gas and get 300-400 Miles range.

I think at this point the dumbest thing about ev trucks is the price. But once they cross that 40k price point it would be like trying to argue how a candle is better than a flashlight

Now that's funny, considering the engine plant is no where near where the truck is assembled and a totally different crew of "chimps".
