I like working on stuff, but if I did it all the time, I'd probably hate it. Working software lets me shut off the computer on the weekends and forget it exists.

Illinois is on lockdown again. Low and behold the flood gates of Illinois assholes are pouring into my neighborhood and jamming up traffic, causing accidents and the bars are now dangerous to go to. Wonderful. Fuck Illinois.

I’ve been thinking about that more and more lately. But I’d rather be doing this as a hobby. Maybe.

Trades will always be in demand even in rougher economies. Thats how I made my choice. Be good at what you do and you'll be hard to replace, whereas coders and comp-sci dudes are a dime a dozen and very replaceable and companies can outsource those jobs to other countries at the drop of a hat.

This amazing opportunity I have is just too good to pass up. I feel like if I left I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.

I figured why not try it out and see where it takes me.

This ^^ although I think there will always be a need for guys in the IT world with everything becoming computer controlled, someone has to do the programming and fix the bugs/create cyber security around it. But it's good to have a job that computers can't replace, at least not easily.

@Kwikvette you should have another package coming in the next 2-3 days, if it doesn't rip out of the bag and get lost along the way lol

It also still amazes me how computer-dumb so many people are in this day and age. So many of the higher ups at my company can't even open Acrobat to make their own PDFs, much less save one out. It boggles the mind how they ever got to be in the position they're in without knowing how to do basic tasks, but I guess some people are just good at relegating menial tasks to other people lol.

My friend that does IT here basically spends his day telling other people to restart their computer or update their OS to fix their problems, but without him they'd be absolutely lost.
