I noticed the gasket on my gas cap was pretty dried out and cracking and when I would unscrew the cap, it didn't seem like it was at all tight. I replaced the gasket and it's exactly the same?!

How tight should the gas cap get? Should there be a small amount of force needed to unscrew it? On the wifes CR-V, it gets tight and requires a little bit of effort to unscrew it.

Thanks. I don't recall hearing mine hiss anytime recently. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to replace the original 20 yr old gas cap.

Now for the $64k question - OEM or parts store brand :crapstorm:

I second the OEM cap,,,, but this is what I'd do for sure even though I didn't on mine,,, because I had to go to a locking gas cap because of the union thugs at work, I also put one on our Honda Accord, the Honda set a gas cap code almost immediately the taco has been fine. But if I didn't need the locking cap I'd go OEM much better quality I think.

You can buy the seal for under $2 from the dealer.

Can you add a spacer of cardboard under the seal?
