BTW....another place to keep an eye on is NAPA. They have some great sales on their house brand.....which is rebranded Valvoline. And the SuperTech/Kirkland (Costco)/Amazon Basics/Meijer oil is a great product for the money.....all produced by Warren

Wrapped up a job early and had time to do final cleanup of yard (since all the leaves have dropped). Leaf blow followed by mower with mulching blade & bagger. All clean for winter. Serviced the lawn mower and swapped positions in the garage with the snowblower. Going to do some over-seeding in some spots this weekend.

I use the NAPA synthetic 5W-30 in my lawnmower and snowblower.

If you guys are looking for decent on sale oil usually around this time of year Autozone clears out inventory. Can usually grab good synthetic for $2 a quart. Down to my last 6 qts of Pennzoil 0w30 Euro I plan on using in the truck for winter.

Just did some leaf mulching myself. But I'm still 2-4 weeks away from the final mow/mulch

I learned that when I made that initial purchase several years back. Did a quick Google search on the NAPA branded synthetic oil. Had really good reviews. 5 years worth of oil changes out of a case (6). I think it was just under $3/Qt (forget if that was on sale or not) when I last purchased it 3 or 4 yrs ago.

I've got M1 Truck and SUV in my rig currently.....bought over the summer for $8 with the $5 off sale price and $12 rebate. Couldn't pass up the deal. But before that I had Valvoline synthetic in it.....also bought on sale.

I just recently purchased some Valvoline Maxlife synthetic for about $15 with the sale price + a PayPal rebate to use in my daughter's Yaris.

Love Valvoline products. I use a lot of them

Heh, I have 7 vehicles that are under my care. While I'm not cheap, if I can reduce my cost every bit counts. That $70 stash lasted me all year in several of them. I'll also cruise Rockauto for some decent filters. Settled on Hastings as they're decent quality, made in the USA, and since I buy several they're $4 a piece even with shipping.

What I love about the Tacoma is it isn't picky about oil choice at all. I've ran Edge 0w40 Euro (had extra from the GTI) Rotella Gas Truck 5w30, and the current Valvoline Modern Engine 5w30. While all have done well it seems the Valvoline is the smoothest. Noted the same thing on the Liberty. Used the Valvoline High Mileage Blend in my friends 86K mile S10 and not only does it seem to run smoother it seems to have slowed down the consumption greatly.

I will splurge on the GTI though. I needed a couple things for it and ordered an oil change kit that consisted of Motul 5w40. No complaints and keeps the oil temps happy even running the snot out of it up the mountain (might be why the tires are getting shot at 24K ). Been contemplating selling it but everytime I drive it the little 2 liter turbo puts a smile on my face...

I'm with ya. I rarely buy oil on demand for my own vehicles. It's almost always something that I've bought on sale and/or with a rebate then stashed away until needed. And yes....these 1GR's don't much care what's in them. 0/20 to 10/40....conventional, blend or synthetic. They just happily hum along.

Now I do buy oil on demand when I change the oil for the many friends and neighbor's vehicles I wrench on. And unless they provide the oil or request something specific, they're getting the Warren produced Meijer house brand and an Ultra filter. Never an issue and they're always happy to get a synthetic OC and a quality filter for $25.

As far as "smoothness" and "quietness"....I've found M1 Truck and SUV and Valvoline Full Synthetic to be good. The Valvoline is just mid-pack as far as viscosity....something like 10.8 @ 100° C. But it runs quiet. The M1 T&S is heavy @ 11.7....and that probably explains why it's quiet. As I close in on 100k miles I will probably jump to M1 HM. It's additive pack still seems robust and at 11.9 @ 100° C it's damn near a light 40. It's performed great in my daughter's Yaris.

And the BITOG comment was a complement.

Just wanted to show off my new crossbars and roof rack, because who doesn’t get super pumped up and stare for 3 hours when a new accessory is put on their taco?

up next are tires. Not sure if they’ll be BFGs or Discover AT3s :notsure:
