USFS Region 3 (AZ/NM) just announced Stage 1 Fire Restrictions across the state on all National Forest Lands:

    The following acts are prohibited:

Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire or campfire except within a developed recreation site, or improved site. 36 CFR 261.52(a).

Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials. 36 CFR 261.52(d).

Operating or using any internal or external combustion engine without a spark-arresting device properly installed, maintained, and in effective working order meeting either the USDA Forest Service Standard 5100-1a (as amended), or appropriate Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) recommended practice J335(b) and J350(a) (36 CFR 261.52(j)).

EDIT: Also, State Parks (for both overnight and day use) are not allowing out of state visitors. You MUST have a New Mexico ID and NM Plates.

it won’t be over. Wujan Lujan just doubled down on the stupidity and now is talking about curfews and arresting people for violations. This is absolute insane!

Not sure if the Otero county sheriff's department's stance has changed since July, but they don't plan to issue citations to those not wearing masks. Only asking them to leave private businesses that enforce it.

They just had a weekly conference call that all the LE agencies do in the state. She’s doubling down on her stupidity but it’s up to the individual chiefs of those respective agencies to enforce the mandates. Many won’t. Some will. And some will only to an extent.

It’s obvious to anyone with a brain cell in their head that this is all political bullschidt. You have a better chance of dying in an accident than you do from this “pandemic”.

I'm not going to voice my opinions on the situation only because I don't want to get this thread locked. The logic of deciding what can and cannot happen among the states is interesting to say the least.

If you guys head down through El Paso let me know, we can link up at a gas station or something for a quick travel picture!
Or up in Alamogordo with @PcBuilder14 too!

Unless that's weird (Y'all can tell me if I'm weird, I'll understand).

You shouldn't have an issue with the dispersed camping areas, and most of the fire roads don't close.

I'm not sure about your stay in the Gila area, you'd just have to check with them.

Right on! As long as it was fun, glad there weren't any complications in NM.

I hope you had a good trip man. There are definitely some hidden gems out this way. I wish I would have seen your thread earlier though.

I actually spotted your parents van one day I think.
