Hey peeps. I got this in my email - thought it might be of interest.

    https://gromaudio.com/store/vline/t...ion-upgrade-for-stereos-with-lcd-screens.html

Basically, it's a module that plugs into the back of our Entune 2.0 units and runs android via the Aux connection. Their android build supports carplay and android auto.

I have their bluetooth system on my old VW, and adding in bt audio (via the cd changer interface) was pretty nice (this was back in the day of tape player adapters).

    Any thoughts?

That price is giraffe vagina high.

For like $200, I’d order one on the spot. If I spend $600 I’d dump the whole OEM head unit.

Would be interested in something for $600. Have fully loaded JBL Entune unit. Can't seem to find a way to have "everything". Any hints ?

Yeah, it's pricey. But the head unit I was looking at was higher than that anyway.

Based on my experience with Grom in my old E39, I wouldn't buy another Grom product. It was very expensive and never worked reliably.

I’ve seen that the resolution on our head units is not that good when an adaptor is used... $600 for an adapter with poor image quality is pricey for me..

the joying android auto or the px6 oem style for $400 is a huge improvement over this in my opinion....

Is that using a bezel to make it fit the space or does it fit the factory opening after removing the OEM unit, no other parts required?

No other parts required. Fits in factory space/bezel. I will probably sell soon from a wrecked vehicle.

I second the Joying HU. Been using it for over a year now and it's amazing and light years ahead of anything you will be able to get in a oem HU.

You need a Hotspot to be able to use Google maps at its best(with traffic info) or you can just download offline maps.

Besides a rare hiccup restart or slow down once every few months it works great even during the hot summer.

I would probably be interested if it's undamaged and fully functional. Did you have the nav receiver previously with the CAN bus harness or is it a non-CAN bus unit?

Doesn't it support Android auto so it will just use my phone's data and info?

I think for Android auto you have to pay for a special subscription app to allow Android auto($50?), at least for mine since it's one of the earlier editions.

I don't really use AA, I use a Hotspot and use the HU for maps, calling etc.

The only true advantage to AA is voice controls but otherwise I would rather have all the extra features regular android offers.
