I just paid 115 with the hazmat fees and all the other air gas fees... shows the mark up and on top of that I’m pretty sure he gave me the wrong size bottle and they wouldn’t fix it. I was pretty pissed

I know my local AirGas has a student discount. One guy that works there always asks me how my class is going. ;)
He said it’s dumb they have to do that but it keeps business coming in the door and they have no problem adding the discount for regular customers.

In the olden days before Air Gas went to that awful SAP computer system any of the counter guys could adjust the prices .

Now to change prices it takes the manager who always seems to have manager hours so they only put in 30 minutes a day at the store show up about 1000 hours leave for lunch at 1030 get back around 1500 then run to the bank and call it a day

Stores seem to be getting shorted on deliveries in every region to the point some end users run out

All of the distributors one needs to keep an eye on the prices

Not sure, if It's an improvement or not..

    20201114_151837.jpg

Looks like i am being inconsistent on travel speed, with the bead size change.

Had someone mention it was to cold since there was no "rainbow color effect" I thought that was morea stainless thing rather than mild steel?

I know a few runs i did on an outside corner with 1/4 plate at the amperage showed the heat marks that I had would expect to see if I had used stick welding...

If anything that's too hot. Some people use SS filler to make the weld pretty for the gram. Don't believe everything you see in there, like crazy dime stacked beads, there's a reason structural welds don't look like Instagram pics.

Here is a new one for me.

Been about 18 months since it installed this big roll.
Down to the last 3 layers or so and the welding quality went to shit. Changed tips and no joy.

It would get to a section of the roll and the weld would just start to pop and fart and make horrible weld beads.CjvCzTRw1rNEJ8milAkxayd19CffqNWBw7eWjXwp_1808f7b006f24dcaaa2282bb2a2014c04b5a1070.jpg 9l47_5prFpL0MXKcRyXo_4rQ2URF4VoXBdzRvZqi_336c1c302a93ee38b29888fe9f12b9088b9233da.jpg ibEqycQBh6aOcehZCaPI2K2PVsN3csRF1rCfzibe_27b897d5c1eb981ed6e6a7cb35c946a8311dd70b.jpg

I never have noticed any presence of mice, but obviously I had an issue.

Fuckers pissed on the inside of the roll and corroding the wire.

I guess I learned something new.

Hey all. Been busy with a bunch of other projects last few weeks/months and frankly, welding practice isn’t high on my list in 95F weather. :D

... but getting back into the groove with my HF Titanium 170 I’ve been practicing a bit lately. Love having gas! :anonymous:

Question - how do you figure appropriate size and gauge for tubing and angle iron for various stuff? Firewood rack, railing (support not safety, not code related), etc? Any reference stuff for something like force to deflect per unit length?

Anyway, knocked out a quick gun rest today. Ain’t pretty but seems to work okay.

Nice drawing on an old receipt. Are you related to my boss? He has handed me drawings on a napkin before. Lol

I think it was just from the weather unless you saw more Evil Rodent signs like the spool was full of acorns .

If I recall you had a few showers up your way this year.

Myself I would be more worried about Evil Rodents inside the covers they really like to be in enclosed spaces .

Well, the last pic has some "dirty rice" that can be barely seen.

I hope I never left my welders outside.

The 'timers does run in my family.

Nice work on the rack. I am a Grip and built a similar rack for my buddy’s set rigging truck.

I think you actually commented on it when I posted pictures of it a few years ago

Yeah! Thanks for the inspiration! That’s totally it. Was yours steel? Man, about half way done I had to stand it up-it was getting too heavy for me to flip.
