Looking for a link on how to replace the bent reinforcement bar (or crash bar) located behind the bumper for a Tacoma 2001 TRD.
I smacked into a pole and thought I had escaped damage free, but no such luck. I have a bent reinforcement bar. The listed bar and brackets replacement cost under $50, so I had planned to just do a swap; perhaps with some cutting and welding as needed.
The brackets do not seem to match what I'm seeing, but have not started to tear anything apart.
Lots of threads & videos on how take off the bumper, but not finding anything on crash bar replacement.

I'd greatly appreciate advice from anyone who has done this repair on a 1st gen.
    Thanks for any help.

It's like a 5 minute job if rust isn't an issue.

Just undo the bolts behind the front fender (turn the wheel) and side of the bumper.

At that point its just bolts in the front where the holes are.

    No problem.

This is how it'll look like when you remove the bar. You'll see the two bolts on each end that hold the crash bar.

Ignore the extension sticking out; these were from when I installed an aftermarket bumper.

So that is what should have been under the plastic bumper.

    Mine was missing

I got the bar from Rock Auto for under $20; shipping seemed cheap too (can't recall it). Obviously the bar is the real energy absorber, not the plastic. Likely saved my radiator and other parts. Still do not see how the brackets they sell work with it. Also crushed one of those 2"X2" (just guessing) tubes, which look to be out of perhaps 1/8" steel. Not finding that part, so will need to find a way to fab one up. Probably put this off until the weather warms up in my barely heated garage.

Snap pictures of what you need; the pictures of the '01 I posted above sold by accident last month and so I have some factory parts I don't need anymore.

Got them free from a friend since I was going to remove the ARB bumper, only to sell the truck with the bumper on.

That is a very kind and generous offer. I think I have the parts I need (bar and valence), but greatly appreciate the offer. The only part I'm not sure how to attack is this bent tubing. Thinking I'll find someone local with a plasma cutter, then weld on some thin tubing.
Thank you again for the kind offer and the advice.
