More Interior LED woes

i’m not going to say exactly how I did it but I fried my body control module in my 18’. I had it replaced and the dealer blamed it on my leds. That’s 100% not what fried it and I wasn’t going to share with them what really caused it. Either way it was an expensive lesson.

I highly doubt the dealer knows who 18tacos is.

 

Small little aftermarket electronics can sometimes make the truck go haywire. I installed the anytime front/rear camera mod a couple years ago, no issues initially. Then window switches stopped functioning, then radio, then Air conditioning, then headlights until each system continued to shut down with the exception of the power train luckily. All within a couple days. Removed the new wiring camera harness and switch and replaced the blown fuses and it all went back to normal thankfully. In the two years since that happened, I’ve been hesitant to install my interior led light kit I got from Caliraised. From now on, anytime I have an electronic mod I install or device I power off the truck, I power it directly to my battery and just have the switch ran to the interior of the truck. I’ve experienced similar issues with my motorcycles too.

I’d double check all your fuses again OP, under the dash and in the hood, it may be a simple fix. Then hold off on installing a new interior light kit to you find one with a good reputation that has worked on your model year before. Good luck, hope it all works out.

I had something jumped into the interior fuse box with an add a fuse. Not entirely sure what exactly happened but it came out, arched on something and everything went dark, literally and figuratively speaking.

 

A full power clear after you've gone back to OEM components? What purpose does it serve?

Probably none. I've seen devices that measure and store resistive values. Can't say there's a system doing this in the Tacoma but it's a pretty easy task that's worth a shot.

 

OP, what came of this? Did you figure out what was going on??

 

Solution was a replacement of the overhead console.
