Since I’m not home to upload the video and the tree blocked the actual crash anyway, here’s a comic strip of it.

Making it haha. Nothing is broken thankfully.

I slid off those leaves and just veered right, right into that 2nd tree. Left side took full impact, head knocked into it (thank goodness for helmets), bike pedal smashed into left calf then I sort of ricocheted back to the ground. But I am ok, just feel like I got run over by a truck haha.

    Glad you’re ok overall.

Might want to think about retiring that helmet. Obviously only you know the true severity of the impact. Just something to consider.

    Thanks!

I asked that to the guys I was with. The helmet looks pretty good, like not even a scratch on it from the tree. Not sure that means anything. It really only knocked the visor off, thankfully my left arm and side of my body took basically all of the impact and my head just kinda bounced. I’m gonna look at it more today.

I am a bit more worried about that hole under my knee haha. It’s not bleeding and I’m keeping it clean and covered, but not sure if it needs stitches...

here’s a pic of it from this morning

I’m not a medical professional, but that wound honestly looks like it could go either way. Most quick med/urgent care places can handle a couple sutures. At minimum be sure to keep it clean and use some butterfly bandages.

As for the helmet it’s your call. Marketing and the experts will say retire it, regardless of any unseen damages. I took a similar hit a while back and decided to just move that helmet to a back up role. It now stays in my truck so if I (or a riding buddy) forgets their lid, we’re covered.

I know you love it haha

It may become the backup like that. I want to invest in a full face, I kinda like the ones with the removable chin guard...then this one could definitely be a backup.

Also, do not buy the G Form knee pads. I was wearing those when that wound happened. Will not invest in some better, full pad ones. I guess whatever rock I slammed my knee into happened to go right through the gap in the pads. Useless pieces of crap lol

The age of the helmet is worth considering too, @jjones.yota. If over 2 years old it might be worth picking up a new bucket. Wife’s friend has a TBI, so that’s my second hand Internet 2¢ haha.

Definitely your call. Glad your ok though!

Convertible helmets tend to weigh a bunch more than the fixed chin guards. I have a TLD Stage, and it's a great "trail full face." But I'd definitely NOT take it to the bike parks, OR have it a as an only helmet.
I've also owned the Bell Super 3R, and it was ok. Just heavy.

POC joint VPD. Best knee pads I've used to date, and have lasted me much longer than any other.

I haven’t visited an actual bike park to date, so a trail full face may be ideal for me.

    Close, but it's these...
Never ridden without them since I got em. Been put to the test way more than I wish they were. Comfortable for all day rides, tough as nails. Been washed more than a dozen times, still good as new.
