Maybe it was you who posted all of them, I saw someone installed a kit that was a lot cheaper than the others listed for a tundra I think but the same led design lol. I wonder if the harness length might be different though.

 

Hi everyone. New SR owner here. My last car was a Corolla. Never had any issues with it so I stuck the course and got another Toyota. Love owning a truck and I can confidently say I'll never not own a truck lol.

Mods so far include: TRD pro grill, baja designs Squadron Sport SAE fogs, blacked out badges, chrome delete interior, LED headlights/high beams, LED taillights and reverse, thinkware front/rear dashcam and Gritty Vinyl decal (let's go Flyers!)

I also picked up a set of TRD sport wheels. I'm going to slap some meaty OF tires on them in the spring. I would also like to thank the couple of members I've met so far on the forum. I've been on a couple of other forums throughout the years, bit this one is well organized and overall a great community. I look forward to learning lots while here!

Where’d you pick up the pro grille from? How well did it fit in, and did they sell the TSS garnish or did you have to get it elsewhere?

I picked it up from Toyota Pro Shop. It's not OEM but it's really good quality and it fit perfectly. They also sell the version with the TSS garnish included. Currently going for $189 but keep an eye out, they have sales all the time where you can probably pick it up with an additional 10% off or something.

 

Put on my TRD wheel stickers, feels faster now : )

Did your sr come pre-wired for the fogs?

Anyone have any thoughts on running 265/75r16s on their 2.7L's? Any regrets? Finger is ready to pull the trigger on a set of Falken AT3W's. I expect a drop in MPGs and acceleration of course, I didn't buy the thing to win any races.

I just picked up some Toyo Open Country AT3s in that size. I have an SR5 but still a 4banger. I have NO RAGRETS and only wish I’d done it sooner. Highway noise is not noticeable, capability is marginal, confidence is 10x, looks are improved, gas mileage is indistinguishable

 

I went from stock steelies and 245s on my 20 sr 4x4 4cyl. It was early in the game (about 1500 miles). I was averaging about 23-24 mpg all stock minus the air dam. I made the jump to scs f5, 265/75/16 atw3 wildpeak 116t. The biggest thing to consider is rotational weight. I go off pavement occasionally but nothing your average stock truck couldn't handle and I'm not towing stuff, so I didn't need e load tires. I basically setup my wheels and tires to weigh close to the same as my stock setup. 44lbs per tire 18 lbs per wheel. Adding interior nick nacks, fog lights bed lights, bed mat, low profile mud flaps and a few other functional mods and I'm running 21-23 mpg on the regular.

The 4cyl is a turd anyway, but it's no worse or better than stock with the bigger tires. I played with tire pressure for a couple months to get a good balance between a nice ride and good mpg. Initially the tire shop put them at 40 psi. Ride was harsh mpg was good. 29 psi was bouncy and splashy mpg was terrible. I settled on 36-37 up front. 34-35 in the back.

Not sure if the negative offset is the reason, but after swapping out the 245s the truck felt better especially cornering .

 

I guess I should mention I’m coming from Goodyear Wranglers already in a 265. I swapped out my 245s about 2 years ago. Still didn’t notice much of a difference back then but 2k2 is more thorough

 

Appreciate the detailed response. I plan on keeping the current wheels on it. How are your Wildpeaks wearing, also any issues with balancing them?

 

Adding to this. Road noise on these tires is negligible-- they are quiet, especially for an aggressive AT. I've had plenty of different tires (KO2, duratrac, geloander) and these have road tire mannerisms. They are good in the wet stuff, no experience in the snow yet. Time will tell. All the AT tires I've had were loud, slippery, and rough at 40k. So after 8k miles I have no good long term review of these wildpeak tires. One thing to note -- A LOT of ppl have issues getting these things balanced. I got mine, got it up to 50 and had a bad steering wheel wobble. The shop made it right and I'm good, but dont be surprised if they cant get these balanced. Read up on it.

 

Wearing seems normal, but I rotate every 5k. Balancing.. well I was worried when I got them mounted and had a nasty steering wheel shimmy. Took it right back and they did a dual plane balance on all 4 wheels. That fixed me up, but yes. I was regretting getting them at first thinking "that balancing issue wont happen to me ". Seems to be a common problem with the SL tires. E load does better cuz they're 10 lbs heavier
