Primer. When I replaced my RCI sliders with SOS ones I cleaned the frame and sprayed it with red primer.

Hi @uploadadventure - Could you share some comments on the RCI vs SOS sliders - these are both on my list...

    Thanks!

Or just never take them off and let them fuse together permanently through the power of Midwest corrosion

    Sure!
I had RCI sliders for about a year.
They are good sliders, serve their purpose. I had 20° angle sliders and it was to much of an angle for my kids to get up it good. I also found having that angle was a bit extreme.

My biggest complaint though, was that the RCI sliders were close to the pinch weld. I went to jack up the truck from the sliders and the they actually contacted the pinch weld. I did not like that at all.

Initially I hated the design look of the SOS sliders. But the more I looked at them, the more it made sense. If you slide into a rock pressure from the strike goes down each side of tubing spreading the stress over that area to the main center tubing. Vs the one long piece with the RCI slider.

Also, the SOS sliders are positioned further down on the frame therefore more distance between the slider and the pinch weld.

Also, the new design of the SOS sliders have drain holes in the support arms so that there is no chance of water or mud building up and rusting the inside of the metal.

I can no longer find Sliders for the Tacoma on SOS's website. They are there for the 4Runner... - but none listed for the Tacoma. Have they stopped making them?

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of sos sliders with fill plates raw. Any reason why I should or shouldn’t?

    Work in progress...
loosen the front back and torque the middle ones first, or try even tightening or use a c-clamp here or there. Wiggle and jiggle. I am betting big money against you torquing the frame out of square with 1/2" drive ratchet. Not the same sliders here but just to give Ya an idea or two.

What skids do you have? Mobtown skids will cause fitment issues.
