Is DNG a raw file type? I changed the settings and now my phone saves every camera photo as jpeg and a DNG which is 3x the size

Yeah DNG (digital negative) is considered a raw format. It's supposed to be a universal raw file format not specific to any one brand (though Adobe created it)

And yes it will consequently eat up your storage lol. But your pics will be higher quality and easier to edit
