The Mrs busted a button head ahe thought was a doe. It was right at 200 yard so I'm cutting her some slack, plus a 5 or was chasing it around the field so she just figured it must be smelling good to him.

    Thoughts on this please......

We don’t see many does and haven’t shot one in a couple years because we don’t see many. I haven’t seen one while hunting this season, my wife has seen a couple. Our cameras show and I see more bucks than does. I know, it’s a tough problem to have :D

Our cameras only show 2 mature does and a couple small ones.

My questions, should we try and take out the larger ones since we haven’t shot any? Will that help us or hurt us in the future?

    Not enough info.

How big is the property you hunt? If your property isn't real big hunters on neighboring properties could be the reason you have a low doe to buck ratio.

Are you the only ones with access? If not someone else who has access could be the issue. Even if the say they aren't taking does you can't always trust that.

Is your freezer in a venison shortage? If not why risk the situation getting to where the bucks you have decide to find an area with more romantic opportunities.

From what I have read you should shoot the younger ones . They will be leaving your area to look for there own home range anyway . Let the mature “breeder” doe walk .
