Spiker Engineering has officially released the ULTIMATE Lift hood struts for the 2nd Gen Tacoma, the latest version of our original High Lift Hood Struts. They can be purchased directly from our website at https://spikerengineering.com/product/05-15_tacoma.

    Jason (2).jpg

Our ULTIMATE Lift hood struts are designed to open the 2nd Gen Tacoma’s hood to any position between stock prop rod height and up to 8” higher than stock (an increase of 2” over our original High Lift hood struts).

A unique feature of all Spiker kits is the ability to choose the hood open height during installation. Choose the lower height for low overhead garages (or if you have ditch lights); the maximum height to experience the incredible added light and access; or any position in between to suit your needs. And if you ever decide to change the open hood height, you can relocate the brackets to a new position, without needing to buy a whole new kit.

    s-l16002 (2).jpg

Our kits come complete with all components needed for installation. Even a drill bit stopper is included, to take the fear out of drilling into your truck. All components are 100% USA made :oldglory:, and are covered by a 5 year warranty.

Ditch lights can be a problem with some kits, but not ours. Unless your ditch lights don't let you open the hood to even the prop rod height (in which case you have bigger issues :)), you'll be fine with ditch lights:

@SpikerEng Nice product and good price point. I like the drill stopper and option to increase lift height. I'll admit, I was a bit afraid when drilling for Redlines, since its such a weird angle. The extra year of warranty is a nice touch as well. You only get 5 years with the top tier Redline kit, and it is impossible to find info on their warranty policy. You guys list a simply, easy to find and easy to understand policy. Best of luck with your sales.[/QUOTE]

How much will these lift? The reason I ask is because I have my hood bedlined and it weighs way more than a painted one.

The struts are sized so that a single strut can hold the hood open, so you have a lot of extra capacity with the two struts. With the hood weighing about 35 lbs, even 3.5 lbs of bedliner would only add 10% to the hood weight, and will have no perceptible effect on strut operation.

But if you want, we can supply stronger struts to give you more margin.
