    Still thinking about it.
Yeah right? I wish. Maybe that’s why I don’t have a winter beater. My main squeeze would just be sitting here buried in snow haha.

F250HD for heavy hailing and beating on to save the Tacoma. It was a county truck I got at an auction for $1100 four years ago and it hasn't given me any problems that are not easily handled.

Here's a picture with about 3700 pounds of Belgian Block in the bed. Still was not on the bump stops.

I looked through all my vehicles and I hate to admit it but my Taco is my beater.

JB weld, Wool Wax and good for another year! I hit one of my body mounts with WW last week but am waiting to do the whole underside. I just did control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends and a CV boot this weekend. Next weekend is valve lash and rear vtec solenoid gasket.

I have a thing for the 997 carrera S but it looks like I missed the window and they are going up in price. My wife got me this one for 24 hours for my birthday a couple years ago. That day, she became a car person.

    The stable I used to work at had a 1988 250 with a 460 and a 95 or so with a 351. That 460 was unstoppable

I have the 351 and it works well for us. The E4OD transmission is definitely the weak link in the drive train. I expect that to be the cause when the old beast dies.

Mine has been paid off for a couple years, that's why I baby it. I will never have a car payment again, but I also want my project car to be a useful truck that can get out there in the woods with my wife and dogs. It's not just for sunny day back road drives, but I also want to minimize road salt exposure and short trips so that keeping it for decades to come is actually attainable. I've also slept outside on the ground and in makeshift shelters below freezing enough times that I'm not interested in frozen camping for fun anymore, so it wasn't coming out in the winter anyway.

Edit-just saw you are in Fairbanks, so what is "winter" to you?? Lows of -50 for 10 months of the year? I don't think you have a choice but to drive your vehicles in the winter . Here in SE PA, we might get 18" of snow but it's gone in 36 hours. We have salt water covered roads from late December through March.

That's no excuse to retire it, I bet you could get another trans for $100 and keep racking up the miles!

It’s not too bad but lots of cold snaps, -20 and colder. Driving on hard packed snow and ice half the year. Pretty hard on vehicles, I suppose.

There’s just something really confidence inspiring about a Porsche. I’ve driven corvettes and mustangs most of my life and after the Porsche can’t even believe they would approve the death traps that are American made.
