I camped in my ground tent last night, and then im going out this coming weekend too. I really miss my RTT. I am going to get a cheapo tarp and a yoga mat for a sleep pad. Had to separate my camping boxes (rigid rolling toolbox) and my whole game is thrown off. At least i still have my ReadyLight, so im not scared about setting up in the dark. Also, i can put the buddy heater in the tent, and not really be worried if it burns down. Im still going winter camping.

Also, I took my fridge out, and basically didnt bring food. That thing is a lifesaver if you want cereal and milk for breakfast while camping. Mountain House is still good.

Its going to be a long 10+ more months

After my trailer build I’m going to tare down the truck to flat bed it. My setup is so (over) dialed it’ll be interesting to rebuild. I could go out for a weekend without a fridge but wouldn’t wanna make a habit of it. I’ll have to run it in the cab.

For retail sale. The prototype is cut and bent now, just need some welding and powder coat. Hopefully I’ll have some “testing” results here within a few weeks. :spy:

And, just so we’re not muckin up an RTT thread; I’ve owned a few. My synopsis off RTT ownership would be, save your money and buy a wedge camper. Way better in every way.

Right oh. I like too see the final pics when they’re available.

RTTs are truly as per your needs. There’s so many on the market now, money aside everyone should be able to find something suitable to them. I’ve had a CVT Shasta for around 5 years now and ideally became a luxury best suited for the family on family trips. If it’s just me and my dog I’d like to go back to ground tent with a more suitable build for wheeling.

You need an air pad. Absolute life saver in the winter, plus just way more comfortable in general. If its super cold I will also run an insulated Thermarest foam pad under all that. Suppose a yoga mat could also work in that function.

    Anything like this

the klymit insulated static v has done me wonders in winter camping. admittedly it was cold hammock camping in rocky mountain national park in febraury, but i havent had good luck with a sleeping pad and hammock combo anytime of year. tent camping in squamish/garibaldi in januaray was wild, and more importantly, no cold spots with the pad

I was out last weekend in the upper 20’s both night. In the morning after the second night when I folded my tent I noticed moisture under the mattress at the center section. Assuming it’s condensation, is this what a “condensation mat” will take care of. I’m guessing so, but I’m not always Captain obvious.
