Helloo people of the Tacoma Community!

I have been going in and out of threads on this site for months but this is my first post. Love how cool everybody is in the community, laid back, GENUINE people.

Anyhow.. I bought a 2020 TRD Off-Road and one of the first things I noticed after licking the paint, was how atrocious these stock speakers were. I mean oh my god they were horrible. I didn't think a brand new 40k vehicle in 2020, could even have speakers this outdated and horrible. Not to knock on Toyota, I used to sell Toyota's, but what the hell are they thinking!? I had better speakers on my 2014 Dodge Charger.

So, what did I do? Took my ass to YouTube to figure out how I can get these door panels off and get to work! I did some research and found people had great success and results with the kicker cs series. So I went ahead picked them up, and got to work on the Taco!

The truck sounds wayy better than it did before, but it's those high pitch sounds and other sounds I still don't quite get any clarity or enjoyment on. Which in my mind, is coming ALL (hopefully) from the tweeters that I haven't replaced. It was a part of the plan to replace them, but I haven't purchased them yet. Which is the MAIN reason I created this post!

***With those Kicker Speakers I have installed, does that limit me from getting another brand speaker for my Tweeters? Different Ohms, Frequency Range matter?**

***If not, what would you recommend as the best Tweeters you've put in your Tacoma?**

**I am sitting between the OEM Audio Plus Tweeters, which are more raved about than any I've seen, ORR just the Subaru Kicker Tweeters that everyone seems to use... Those are the two that I have in my mind at the moment...

If you have any advice, or maybe know of some Tweeters that have worked great for you that would be appreciated!! Thanks guys.

The funny part is that the speakers you put in really aren’t that special. Shows how bad the stock speakers really are.

Mine has the JBL system and it’s satisfactory but I can’t wait until one of the speakers takes a shit so I can rip them all out and replace them.

look at the kicker key amp and yeah the subaru tweeters they should be plug and play with non-jbl.

Hahaha, I feel you. I didn't want to replace the whole head unit, add an amp, etc. I just wanted to listen to music like a normal human for a couple hundred bucks. I will be looking into replacing the head unit so I can put in better speakers/sub/etc later down the road but it's brand new, just wanted a quick fix for now.. & Yes... you would be surprised to hear how shitty those speakers are. They were made of paper and a magnet the size of a nickel.

Kicker key amp works with factory stereo. It’s about 40 W a channel I think which is really all you need for a pick up truck.

why does everyone love kickers? subi tweeters will run you like $100...not sure why they're so hot either given the cost.

You can find better speakers than kicker easily...and better tweeters for cheaper...I did. If you're going to upgrade then UPgrade, kickers are ok but not the best bang for the buck imo

OEM is overpriced, the kicker tweeter was actually a nice upgrade. You can do all kicker a lot cheaper

They sound better than stock and are plug and play. Got them from my local Subaru dealership for $69 a couple of years ago.

I installed Kickers all around along with the Kicker Hideaway 8" sub. System hits hard now. I recommend it.

    Kicker Key interests me also

The speaker install is very easy.. Compared to what you think it would be.. Took me 45 minutes to do the front two doors. For people that are used to that stuff it would take less
