Sub Box Question???

I got this 12' Rockford Fosgate its 5 1/2 inchs deep. I was wondering if is possible to make a box for the driverside(I got a DC), or will I be wasting my time? Thanks

 

What model is that? If the mounting depth is 5.5" it will fit. However, your problem will be getting enough box volume. I don't think you'll get enough if you just build a box for the driver's side. It will work but your bass will not sound as good or go as low as it could with a bigger box. Need more info on the particular model and it's specs.

i built a box for my cousin for two of these subs, they sound great

are u wanting to put it directly behind the driver or where?

 

Yea I just won't one behind the driverside back seat. Do you know how much wood you used?

 

o ok then im sure u can get one to fit back there, ummm im not positive, i bought a full sheet of 3/4" mdf wen i did it though

heres the only picture i have of it, i think his are the p1s though actually, there the same size dimensions i believe though

Yea,Measurements would be great, iam not that Knowledgeable in car sterios. I have never built a box before, Iam off tomarrow so it don't hurt to try. Do you think its enough box volume?

but alot of people are anal about wanting exact volume to spec, but im not a profesional so i dont really care if its exact, im usually pretty close to spec though and ive built 6 of them for different types of vehicles and they all sound awesome. so i think ull be fine

just word of advice wen building, make sure your cuts are pretty close. use wood glue and nails to put the sides together, and last make sure you seal that bad boy off good

 

A 5 1/2" deep 12" sub will not fit properly behind the seat in a DC without some modifications to the seatback and/or seat mounting location. Also, there is some "fudge factor" in airspace for a sealed enclosure however on the drivers side you can only get a bit more than half of what is optimum for that sub so IMO it probably won't sound near as good as it could.

 

well on the floor he couldnt get much but say he put the box on the seat, then could he get more? i dont have a double cab so im not sure wat the measurments are in the back, and doesnt one of the seats in the back fold down so you could also do that and sent it on top correct?

 

Either of those options would allow him to get more airspace.

 

That what I was afraid of, yea I just had these subs laying around and though I could put them to good use. I definitely don't won't to modify my back seats. Thanks
