I’m more interested in the loss of output with the selective yellow lens.

Swapped the selective yellow SS3 lens for the clear flood and driving lens’. The color temp is perfect. Can’t wait to compare these with their 42 inch combo light bar you see on the right.

May have to get the new combo lens on a set of MAX SS3's to get the best of both worlds.

I appreciate it. I am about to pull a trigger on MAX in yellow color. I currently have a cement Tundra with LED headlights and not sure whether I should get fogs in white or yellow. White matches better and I never drive through fog...

I’d love to hear some thoughts on the usable light output between white and amber fogs.

Not much fog out here in new mexico but i would like a dot approved high powered light for these pitch black roads

    Thank you guys

    My thoughts on the MAX.

    Video here.

To get them installed I had to remove the front bumper and trim some plastic (2018 Odyssey EX-L). It was more work than I expected, however, I was able to hammer out a ding from a prior unintended rock crawl and JB Weld a busted clip so I was ok with burning the time. I don’t intend to remove the bumper again, it’s too much work, so swapping lenses to selective yellow is out. This is an unfortunate side effect of my target vehicle selection. The Tacoma is a cakewalk by comparison.

I took them for a test drive and I think my thoughts are kind of ~meh. I experimented with angle but didn’t take the time to fine tune because, tired. They aren’t dim by any means but two things stand out to me.

    1. The H9 bulb mod is such a massive bang for the buck that anything else seems to fall short, with a notable exception of my HIR high beams. Yes the SS3 MAX helps with vision to say 20’ as well as side of the roadway, but overall there isn’t some massive temptation to keep them on unnecessarily.
    2. The cutoffs are not as sharp as I had expected and it’s easy to see rooflines getting a faint illumination when they are on which goes away when they switch off.

The second point is the most interesting to me since I only have one other set of LED fog lights in my Tacoma, selective yellow sports, and perhaps due to reduced output, they seem to have minimal bleed above the cutoff. I really like the yellow color and the value at that price point. I think the sports are truly the top dog, just a tremendous value.

I suspect my expectations were set too high and I was expecting a firework display with a razor cutoff. It’s definitely fun to have the most extreme option available, but I’m not sure other than color that I can really even tell the difference between these vs my sports in terms of output.

Also, after a few minutes of runtime, the lens is not hot by any means, certainly no oven mitts needed. Perhaps more time is needed to bring the heat.

I’ll post a second review once I get to use them on our drive to Palm Desert where we have long stretches of dark two lane highway with windy switchbacks to the desert floor. That’s the route I envisioned when I bought them.

Interestingly, the Odyssey does not enable fog lights until low beams are on and I didn’t bother trying to figure out how to defeat the DRL’s. So I didn’t get a chance to drive with just the fog lights on nor did I really get somewhere super dark where my night vision might have adjusted.
