Y'all are going to laugh, but now I'm wanting to try a RTT again. A lot of the qualms I had with my previous one stemmed from it being so high (on top of the cap) and it being heavy. The one I want would go on a mid height randyfab bed rack and only weighs 105 lbs so really not bad. Being below the roofline would keep it from acting like a sail, easier to setup, and not have the weight so high while offroad. This is the one I'm eyeballing. I'm waiting for the next 20% off coupon from REI which will come out around late March. This is good because it'll force me to wait and see if I actually want it or if I'm bored and scheming again. If I don't like it and resell it, I should be able to recoup most of my money too since I'll get it 20% off.

The tent is only 42" long. I'll leave my spare and powertank where they are and have the tent right behind them.

Maybe. But didn't you give away the 3rd gen bar thing? I'd have to get a really nice gift for the wife to make this right.

Whoops, I got my dimensions backwards. It's 42" wide and 48" deep. So I could still just squeeze it behind the tire/powertank or just mount the tent so it opens towards the tailgate.

A new bar is only like $20. What's odd though is the 3rd gen long beds come with a straight bar (like I currently have) and short beds come with a curved bar. So you could get away with just keeping the straight bar if you wanted.
