Took a little cruise through the BLM land behind red rock. We saw this rock formation from the road, and tried to get as close as we could. Ended up walking about a half mile straight up a ravine to get there. Definitely took some effort. No trash, no footprints, no trails to it. Perfect.

Actually got to use the locker. Coming in, not this shot which is headed out. Road was all washed out and I managed to get the truck balanced perfectly on the front driver and rear passenger tires. Open diffs just kinda spun for a bit. Little bit of locker and off she goes.

Wyoming has been my favorite since I first went there like 35 years ago. Who am I fooling, I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I just like to be a grumpy internet person who is concerned with the recent uptick in ass clowns in this city.

Can't seem to move far enough out to get away anymore and still be reasonable driving distance from things. At least Mt Rose is finally open and the runs are good

It's, and pardon my french, fucking amazing. Those guys did a killer job with the snow making and getting enough snow moved onto the main runs (kit, lower lake, etc) and there is zero need for rock skis unless you're looking to go on the untouched runs, which are so skied out that they're beyond moguls. I took my new Stockli Laser AX's out and zero marks on the base. Only thing is the lines are much longer due to restrictions, so they're keeping it to either 2 single people on either side or a group of friends/family/whatever in the middle and alternating. Takes a while, but also keeps congestion on the run down. I didn't have my skitracks running, but i got at least 12 runs in yesterday before i called it quits due to wait time.

That's what I'm hoping too. Possibly by next week they'll have silver and maybe bonanza up. Weekends are a no no. Even monday was worse than any monday i've ever been up. More cars by 10am than i've ever seen. I'll still risk it some Sunday's, but not lookin too good till they open up more terrain.

Edit: also like how they angled up the main lodge cam so you can't see how big the line is

Agreed. They just started selling 1/2 day tickets so it'll probably get a little busier. This year they're selling only a certain number of passes so at some point it'll level out. Just stick to weekdays only and get there as early as possible. I'll probably be leaving around 10 each day until they open the bar and then i'll just have a couple beers until i can tolerate the line

Not sure the concessions will open this season with the way things are going. Park in the upper main lot for easy ski in/out and keep the beers and food in your truck.

We'll see what happens. I don't see how they're any less capable than a restaurant in terms of food, so long as they can manage lines and seating, but we'll see. I bring snacks and drinks to keep in the truck, but just not the same. I'm (almost always) the first or second person in the main lot, or slide when it opens. Pop one open, get some carbs in and listen to tunes for a bit before going to the lift.
