I don’t think this is the thread to be discussing blow ups, although 2020 has been that kind of year, maybe we should discuss blow ups in the holiday thread.

Have you ever put up so many lights and electric-powered decorations that your electric bill was higher than your mortgage payment?

Also, with my parents’ house electrical bills are not the problem; My parents’ house was built in 2016 but the electrical system can best be described as inadequate at times...

The GFCI outlets are all on the same circuit; At least three times last year, we tripped the breaker because my dad was running on the treadmill while the outside Christmas lights were on.

One time last year (or possibly 2018) I stepped outside and happened to notice that the Christmas lights out front were off; Thinking I’d simply forgotten to plug them in and not realizing that my dad had turned them off so he could use the treadmill, I plugged them in.

The breaker flipped, the treadmill immediately lost power, and my dad almost when flying off because he’d been running so fast!

My dad was initially quite upset, but softened his demeanor when I told him that I thought I’d forgotten to plug the lights in. Now my dad notifies me whenever he is using the treadmill between Thanksgiving and New Year’s so this doesn’t happen again...

I can't run our carpet cleaner off of the bedroom receptacles (15 amp) so I have to plug it in in the bathroom (20 amp), but I don't have interior and exterior receptacles tied together like that!
