I received both left side reservoir brackets as well.. Not that big of a deal I suppose. I'm still waiting on the rears.

I've been trying to diagnose a "clunk" sound that I think is only coming from the passenger side. Seems like if I hit a dip in the road too quickly (~30mph), I get the clunk sound. If I hit the same dip going slower (~20mph) there is no clunk or anything. Have you noticed anything like this?

I'm going to be setting up a camera to try and get some video in the meantime.

Might just be the shock going to full extension. How high are you lifted in the front?

With that clunk sound with these it could be you're activating the internal bump stop ? but then again when I put the fronts on my truck and went to the dirt area behind my house and drove the shit out of them I didn't really hear anything but that may be due to the fact my engine war roaring and music was playing

See I was wondering that same thing. I've had them on for about a month so I need to double check my lift height. I have steel sliders and skids, and went with the 650lb coils straight out of the box, so I didn't change their initial setting of ~1.5". Someone else mentioned that they shouldn't be making noise so we'll see when I get around to getting some video.

I did have a clunk until I removed those skid plate supports. Once I ditched those, no more clunking.

I was "hopeful" that was my problem, but then after seeing your photo, I realized mine had already been removed due to my Mobtown Offroad skid plate.

Hmm, I'm not sure what else it could be. I'm on stock UCA's and don't see a need to upgrade. No clearance issues and the alignment tech was able to get 2 degrees of caster. The sway bar doesn't come close to hitting anything else. I get almost a "squish" sound on hard impacts, but just assumed that was the shock doing it's thing. Definitely no more clunks though.

I think I figured out a good spot for my GoPro to mount to get video of the suspension, so I'm going to try that first. Worst case scenario is to re-install the stock suspension and see if it goes away. I was originally asking to make sure it wasn't the shock "bottoming out" but I really don't think it is. If I had to guess, I'd say it was coming from the LCA, but I tightened to 135lbs and it's even had an alignment (2* caster as well)

I'll keep plugging away and diving back into this thread as needed. Thanks all.

Check all your skid-plate bolts to ensure nothing is loose? Sometimes those can get clunky and bang on other things. A video with decent sound should help to pinpoint your issue.

Narrowed my upgrades to the 8100 series - seems sparse on feedback from TW and other spots.

Oldish post but I'm curious if you're stilling liking your setup? I'm pushing 700lbs loaded, no armor up front - just a traveler with a heavy load and squatting in the rear.

What I'm getting lined up - thoughts?:
    • 8112 with 600lb spring
    • ucas
    • 8100s
    • deaver stage 2
And never spending another dime on this dang truck. Til next time.

I'm loving it. I'm not as heavy as you, but my Icon RXT pack on option 2 pairs very nicely with these 8100's. I did play with the bypass adjustments and couldn't even tell you what settings I settled on. I was surprised about how different the truck handled on rough surfaces with the various adjustments.

I'm going to try putting a winch up front, but I'd like to stick with these 600lb springs, so we'll see how well that works. I'm at 1-1/8" exposed thread on the driver's side and 11/16" exposed thread on the passenger slide, so still under Bilstein's recommended max adjustments. Surprisingly, the passenger side still sits 1/4" taller.

Thanks man. How's your unloaded on road feel? I can't find much on these 8100s anywhere. But the "position sensitive damping" has me interested. I'm really looking for a set it and forget it kind of setup - if there is such a thing. And thanks again.

Unloaded feels great. It's not bouncy by any means and I'm not sure whether to credit the leaf pack or shocks. I do have a topper and fridge in the back at all times, so I'm not totally weightless. When I put the tent on or load up with some gear, it gets even smoother. I did "tune" the shocks when I had the tent on, FWIW.

Great feedback. That's my problem I think as I only have that load for traveling. Sliders are my only weight. I've still got time ahead of me before I upgrade but leaning heavily toward these bilsteins. I may reach out on here if i have any more questions but you've been quite helpful. Thanks again.

Hopefully I'll be able to give some feedback on these soon:

ORW says my 8112 /8100s will be here in a few days, I've also got a set of Deaver stage 2's waiting in the garage and I'm still waiting on hammer hangers / bump stops and ubolt flip from archive garage.

    I can't wait. :bananadance:

Did you get your setup installed yet? Do you have any unusual noise from the front end? I recorded some video (unable to post it hear) but some people think it’s the internals of the shock making noise, and others think something is loose, but I’ve double checked every bolt underneath, and removed the swaybar and skid plate to make sure it’s not at interference issue. There does not appear to be any contact between the spring and the UCA. The noise just doesn’t sound right.

    I accidentally cancelled my order.

I had started thinking of going with Archive Garage’s mid travel shock relocation tower for the rear, so I was going to use a 12” shock. I contacted bilstein about it and they gave me the correct 9200 series shock to use. The 8100 is vehicle specific. The 9200s are the 1/2” bolt mounting universal option.

So I contacted Offroad Warehouse and gave them the revised numbers. Later on I contacted Eric at archive garage and he didn’t think the 9200s would fit since they’re still bypass shocks. So I figured I’d go with a fox setup from accutune. I again contacted Offroad warehouse and just told them to cancel my whole order.

This was super early in the morning, as I work a graveyard shift. Well about the time I was going to sleep I had a change of heart and thought it would be stupid to cancel my entire order of waiting for months just to get into another waiting cycle. So I sent another email asking for my order not to be cancelled and to just continue on with the 8112 / 8100 setup. I got an email back a few minutes later saying “no worries nothing had been cancelled yet”.

While I was sleeping though, I got an email saying my order had been cancelled. I believe they got my emails in the wrong order. Not that I can blame them at all. Since I’m sure Craig over at offroad warehouse was pulling his hair out at every change I was making. I took it as a sign though and ended up sticking with the order being cancelled. Now I have all my other parts sitting here without the shocks and coils to install haha.

Oh man! I worked night shift for 20 of the last 24 years, so I hear you on night-shift-decision-making-disorder! But ok thanks for the update. I’ll keep trying to figure out what’s going on.

I hope it’s just “user error” and not the shocks themselves. I’m kicking myself a little after going through Accutune’s website. I might’ve gone a different direction.
