    ***Solved, see last post***

Two days ago my 2010 DCB TRD Off-Road 4x4 developed both a shudder and a vibration (sounds /feels like rumble strip) when accelerating between 35ish - 50mph and around 1200-1500 RPM.

Brand new tires, new alignment. 185k miles on truck.

If I accelerate hard, with over 2,000 RPM, there is NO issue.

If i accelerate with the truck in "4", there is NO issue.

The issue only presents under normal acceleration when in "D". Therefore i believe this to be a Tranny / TQ Converter issue.

I am both busy, lazy and a single dad with no time, so i am taking it in for a service: Fluid, filter, flush today.

    Will report back on results.

well shit, lol....I didn’t test that.

I am at the shop now anyway. $185 to not buy a ton of fluid and lay in the cold with my hand pump. I’m not mad at it.

Don’t you put that on me!

haha, thanks for the tip. If this doesn’t work, then I’ll look at that too.

I bought the truck with 85k 2 years ago and out 100k on it in two years. I figured this service wasn’t a bad idea regardless.

I had something similar. It started out as shudder on acceleration (not a shudder loss of power like the truck wasn't getting fuel), but not all the time. I took a road trip and on the way back noticed vibration here and there, then the next a little chirping. took it to the mechanic, because I thought it was my brakes. Nope, it wouldn't make the noise at the shop. Later that day had a friend listen. Seemed to be coming from my rear U-joint. Tried greasing all the U-joints, but the rear one wouldn't take grease. Replaced it last weekend and the truck is fine.

The shop yesterday, who had to look up a 2010 Tacoma 4x4 V6 in order to give me a price quote did not realize that they cannot service a Tranny without a dipstick.

They don’t have the machine ‍♂️. Took them an hour to discover this.

I am at an AAMCO now and they offered that shudder additive and warned me that the problem might be fixed by this, or could be worse. Either way; fingers crossed.

Problem solved. Immediate difference with only a slight and quick shudder right after the service; and after about 100 miles.... all shudders are gone.

Barrda so the additive fixed the shudder. I’m going through the same thing as we’ll just as you explains it and the shudder vibrates the whole truck like it’s misfiring. Only has 79k and no cel. I was planning to do a tranny flush. But on a tight budget. The dealer charges 300 some for the flush and scared it might not be the issue. What would you guys recommend
