Wondering about the fact that I need to remove factory tow hitch...it seems that all of the weight will be transmitted through the bumper to the bolts holding it to the frame. How does this compare to the factory towing connection? Would hate to find a skewed frame or bumper connection after a tough tow job. Thoughts?

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Obviously if you're just putting a hitch ball in the bumper you will not have the same tongue weight capacity as you would with the factory tow hitch (typically about 10% of the trailer weight). You might want to look at the tow capacity for a older model utility level Tacoma WITHOUT the factory tow package. The 2021s are listed with a factory Class IV hitch receiver across all models so making the comparison there is not possible. Obviously a 4 cylinder has a reduced capacity compared to the V6s.

Hmmm. The company says they towed ~9000lbs but it was "sketchy" so it should easily tow the rated amount of 6700-6800lbs I'd guess.

What company? Maybe share the actual bumper and someone might have experience towing with it.
