The 5100’s should definitely be a softer ride than the sport shocks. But it would be nice if you could find some TRD OR takeoffs since those are soft from the factory.

Are the Bilstein 4600's stock on a TRD OR model?

These are the 4600's. I got them for my Sport. They're bigger than the offroad Bilstiens. I'm very happy with them.BBlaZFCoKds2bzD8cfBZJhC4mH6RJxe436xL1c0X_1556b2c26b1d7cedc5ba048250070625872bb446.jpg

What tires are you running? I actually liked the firmer feel of the Sport, I recently switched to Wildpeaks and it made the truck def feel a little softer/bouncier than stock Toyo's. w/ no suspension alteration - but now that I think about it,,,that can actually be more $$ than switching struts out?

good choice  but that means my solution is no good for you :) :) I have 5100s sitting in my garage that I thought I was gonna swap right away, but the ride feels good to me now on stock susp, and I dont really need a lift. Buuut, I Could have sworn I read people saying 5100s firmed up their ride/????? Def could be wrong

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Probably accurate. Because most of them preload their OE springs by using a higher clip setting to get a cheap lift.

'Firmer' doesn't mean better though, especially when you restrict travel with preload.

4600’s and factory Bilsteins are different in sizing believe it or not.

Here is a pic. Super stoked on this truck. Ride is firmer in a good way IMO. Different strokes for different folks :rasta:

I'll second the 5100s, always room for adjustability. Budget friendly too

The factory bilsteins and 265/70 tires ride better than the sport shocks and lower profile tires.

I'm in the same boat and going with larger tires and either fox or eibach suspension.

Watching to see what you go with! I have 2017 sport and love the truck but it does not handle bumps well, even speed bumps while mall crawling lol
For comparison, my fiancé’s 2019 T4R PRO had the fox setup and rides great

Found a steal on 5100s for the rear, put them on and switched to 16" rims with stock GY from OR...

Really smoothed out the rear ride and keeps the stock front end firmness which I like

    Hey, @TeecoTaco .

Doing some searching, I'm glad that I found your post.

I'm looking at a used set of 5100s to use with my Sport springs. I'm getting some extra jounce off road when the front comes off an obstacle that I would like to control better. At 46,000mi, I think the stock Hitachis are more or less done. But, I want to keep the nice on road feel.

Do you think the 5100s are the ticket, or should I look someplace else?

I don't want to lift higher than stock, but my rear springs have sagged a bit. I will do something there down the road.

    Thanks!

Cant talk to 5100s on the fronts. Mine are still stock approaching 100K miles. But I relaced the rears with 5100s because I got a good deal and was looking to smooth out the stiffness in the rear with empty bed...this was accomplished with them. Like stated, I likemthe front end feel at stock, it was just the rear I wanted a little less jarring. Im really happy with this setup as it stands, but the fronts will wear out eventually on mine and not sure what way I would go with that.

    Reach out anytime

    Thanks for the info!

Mine is jittery when empty also. I have a Softopper, bed mat, and storage case with recovery gear back there most always. It is probably 150lb or so total and gets rid of that feeling. Taking them off for a car wash brings back the jitters.

I've also heard that HammerHangers, or similar, will help there.

So, it sounds like the 5100s would be a good match for the Sport springs.
