Just got this wheel/tire combo on and I'm rubbing hard.

    Tires: DuraTrac 265/70/17
    Wheels: SCS Stealth 6 17x8.5 -10mm

Spent about two hours this afternoon with a buddy and a heat gun pushing the fender liner back and I don't think it made any difference at all.

What are my options for this? Lift, different liner, something else?

I don't off road, this is a daily driver so I wasn't planning on lifting to save MPG. If it was just rubbing a little I'd be fine with it and left it rub itself a thin spot. But there is a lot of rubbing going on right now.

    Thanks

So I have a 265/70/17 on a 17x9 -12mm wheel. I've got about 115lbs added to the very front and sliders so I ride almost .5" lower than stock on stock suspension. When I first put the wheel/tire on I rubbed savagely. First, you can use chalk or dirt to coat the bottom of the liner and cab mount to see exactly where you are rubbing (get a good coat on it, drive so it rubs, then look at the clean spots). Then trim the very bottom of the liner because that hard joint/nub doesn't heat gun well and is the biggest piece that sticks out. Then head gun the heck out of it and push it back. I used a baseball bat to massage the plastic back and reformed most of the rear side of the liner. Heat it up, massage it to shape, cool it, chalk it, drive it, repeat.

Once you get all the plastic pushed all the way back you might find a ridge in the plastic that you still rub on. That vertical ridge behind the plastic is a pinch weld. You can hammer that flatter to help make more room. I've skipped the pinch weld hammer for now. I still rub super light when I stuff a tire while turning. Using the dirt/chalk to see where and when you rub can help you decide how far you want to go.

I'm assuming you aren't rubbing on the cab mount (which you shouldn't with this modest size tire). If you are then your options are chop the cab mount, or try to lift/align your way out of the issue. A lift by itself may solve the rubbing during daily driving but if you stuff the tire up in the wheel well it will rub (which isn't the end of the world). Just pointing out that alignment changes that come with the lift can be the biggest solution to rubbing.

Thanks, going to Dremel that joint/nub because as you mentioned, it doesn't heat well. So tomorrow will go the cutting route with some more heat and hopefully can get this rub to a dull roar. Thanks for sharing your experience on this, appreciated.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
Hows your wheel alignment? I have SCS wheels as well and ran them with no lift for a while and you should be able to have no rub if your mud flaps are off with that size tire. You need them to move your wheel ahead a bit in your wheelwell.
I'm 2nd gen and my stock height is 20 inches from center of hub up to fender. I think your around 21 inches for that.

I haven't gotten a wheel alignment done - I just got the truck this past Saturday and that's when I had the wheels/tires put on. I did take off the mud flaps because I thought those were going to be an issue from the get go.
