Today was long , I got two more

 

Ugh no good, that was my Monday. Today was the opposite. This year has been feast or famine for me. Hope ya get a couple days here to chill for the holiday at least.

Day 1

Just outside of the park on a short hike there was some petroglyphs that my buddy had already known about and showed us. Although the exact date of when they were made, it is speculated at about 5,000 years ago.




Then onward to a popular spot in Big Bend, Balanced Rock



And finally Santa Elena Canyon






Day 2

Black Gap Road (not maintained)

8.5 miles long and took about 2 hours to complete with a couple of stops.





We followed that with a Mariscal Mine. This was a Mercury mine that was founded in approximately 1900. It closed in the 1940's after several ownership changes. It is miles from anywhere.
