I'm in Canada, so likely a different situation than down there, but I was in for servicing today and couldn't believe it when I was offered 38k for my 2018 OR. I paid 41k for it new 3 years ago. I wasn't even considering a new vehicle, but its hard not to at that price.

That 2011 was listed on 11/21/2020. I viewed it on 11/22/2020. I believe it was sold either yesterday (11/22/2020) or today.

It was on the market for only 2 days.

Props to Toyota for making great vehicles. I am a little sad that I didn't pick it up.

KBB up'd their offer to $27.5K.

    I may take that offer.

im a buy for a car buying service. kbb is just a gimmick. dealers pay kbb to hit it high and point them to there dealership for them to hit you down. due to the long term of covid, value of all car and truck is dumping. we cant even sell at auction to make a profit right now.. tough times for everyone and everything

    Even with low interest rates?

This KBB was a Chevy dealership. I will not buy a Chevy ever. Not sure what else they can offer me.

not about low interest. no job, people working from home for this long, no need a new car or truck. dealers been closed for months so now we are playing catch up. some are selling to lose money just to get cash flow going.. i stole a 18 limited 2k under wholesale for myself.. so on my side i understand the market. you have a different side. if you have title on hand the sell private. if your in a loan the good luck

Maybe buy your Tacoma and offer a shuttle ride over to the Toyota dealer? lol No way I would buy a GM product, especially a Chevy.

I have the listing on Craigslist, and I am already getting annoyed. Multiple emails from different people saying "I got 25K in cash!" With the exact wording.

    multiple guys flaking.

Man... I am only asking $2K more than the Carmax/KBB offer. I don't know if the $2K more is worth the headache and annoyances.

No, it's not to me either. I'd have to save more than a couple grand to spend weeks dealing with idiots,,,, then there's the risks.
    Nope

That’s why it’s usually better off just trading it in. Here in NY we only pay taxes on the amount after trade in. So the amount more you would get selling privately isn’t that far off. Not worth the headache

Only problem is most new OR on the lots up here tend to run $45-50k now so you will still be dipping into your pocket to upgrade despite the high trade in.

I listed a couple of trucks on Craigslist and I gave up. More success on enthusiast forums than local yahoos.

same here, I never sell privately just for that reason, it's not worth the bullshit. I either sell out right to a carmax type of place or it's traded on the new one.

I just sold my 2006 Nissan Xterra while waiting for my Tacoma. It had 305,000 miles and I sold it to a private party for $3,000. Carvana offered me $100. The trouble of a private sale was definitely worth it to me.

for sure, those places won't give you much for an older vehicle, they like em newer for a quick turn-around but sheesh, $100 bucks!? o_O

I think they offered me $250 for my '03 4Runner with 266k, once again showing that Toyota resale beats everything else!
