If by cycle, you mean put it to good use, I did that on some trails and washboard roads. There's some rubber squeaking somewhere in the rear, sounds like that shock mount bushings, and I hear a sort of hissing sound as if air is being squeezed out of something when going over larger rocks, but it worked nicely. I do need to dial in the reservoir adjusters. But since you mentioned it, I didn't measure the lift after that day and before the alignment. Probably settled then?

 

Yeah, sound like it just settled. The sounds seem pretty normal based on your description too btw.

dial those puppies in, you’ll really see and feel a difference.

 

Thanks for the help. All these extra noises and vibrations have me paranoid. The vibrations may or may not be extra; inclined to believe they are and will attempt a carrier bearing drop and will also do the ECGS bearing swap once I have the tools.

Go with the 118’s. That’s what headstrong recommended a few years back and what I have been running. I also have wheeler's ubolt flip kit and superbumps. You’ll get an extra .5” of travel with the 118’s over the 117’s.

Careful mounting the 2.0 rear resi’s.

I Pinched the steel braided hose line the first day after install doing super light wheeling.

The shop thinks the fox instructions need to be changed and called them and got them to replace the shock.

Getting the new one installed tomorrow and the shop is thinking of making a notch on the bracket so it can’t happen again.

Has anyone else had this issue?? Kind of hard to see in the pic but the hose is pinched and all the oil leaked out.

I've wheeled mine pretty hard since installing them years ago without any issues. My guess is the shop that isn't them had that line closer to the shock mount that it needed to be. You shouldn't need to notch the mount.

 

how far down the shock body is your reservoir clipped on? I think they moved mine up towards the top which made the hose more curled upward.

They were worried that the reservoir mounted down lower would get hit or something.

@lorsteez, mine are lower than that so the hose comes straight out.

 

Mine are mounted like yours, but turned just a hair towards the tire, so it clears the bucket. Years of use with no issues. Yours was installer error.

 

FOX dropped the ball on mounting the resi to the body, they turn and pinch the fragile resi hose like your did. The best fix is a new resi hose, a 90* fitting coming out of the body, and to frame mount the resi. I've done 15-20 of these like this for 4runners and Tacoma's with zero issue.

 

Any insight on notching so the hose can’t get pinched? That’s what my shop wants to do.

 

I had the same issue with my 09 but with icon shocks. I saw this as a potential issue so I used a die grinder to clearance the area. It was just one side that was too close for my liking. I wouldn’t necessarily say this was an error on fox’s part but just a variation in how the trucks are built.

how are you guys attaching your rear reservoirs to the frame with the clamps?

 

shouldn't be a problem to make some space for the resi hose.

Just rotate the shock so theres a nice gap between the hose and the mount

 

I have the same rear setup, rotate the nipple out toward the tire but still keep the reservoir away from hitting anything. I still have about 2” of clearance between the line and the tire and the nipple is plenty clear of the perch.
