Gasoline is gasoline no matter where it’s purchased. Convenience stores such as 7 Eleven, Wawa, Rutters, Sheetz, Royal Farms and the like do not own refineries nor make their own gasoline. They all purchase from larger, known refineries like ExxonMobile, Shell, Valero, Texaco and such. It’s all the same fuel. The term ‘Top Tier’ fuel was created by the media, there is no such designation among companies.

LOL! Well, look at it this way .... It wasn't too long ago you were paying $4.00 a gallon .. So that's a PLUS right? (Mostly for taxes to fix the roads, and the roads don't get fixed for some reason...)
We suffer the same fate here in WA. ... Extra gas tax to fix roads that never get fixed. My saving grace is I live 10 minutes away from ID. where the gas is always .40-.50 cents a gallon cheaper.

Have you measured the settlement time period? How do you know when it was 'recently' refilled? I mean like if they filled at 5AM and you pull in at 6:30AM and the truck is gone, will settlement have occurred? Do you ask the attendant when the last fill occurred when you pull up, just to be sure? Do the pumps pull from the bottom of the tank where the particles reside?

Just wanted to feed your OCD a bit. Not sure what odc is, unless its a function of dyslexia?

BTW, OCD is a serious issue. Most people who claim it like they are bragging about their attention to detail are really just worry warts.

Those with actual OCD should be in therapy to learn how to manage or shed it, making their lives can be much happier.

$2.19 at the WaWa, $1.79 at Costco. Guess where I take all my vehicles?

Not going to get in your fray, other than to say that I trust a AAA public relations article (AAA really being a massive insurance company) about as much as I trust Consumer Reports tire and vehicle reviews and the results you get when you Google 'best <product of choice> for 2020'. :D

I will say I've not been in a refinery, but a storage facility, where different branded tankers were lined up to be filled out of the same supply source. Whatever that means.

Surprising, last time I was in VA wawa was pretty cheap. Also last time I checked wawa wasn’t a Top Tier gasoline.

I dont know about everyone else but I will NEVER buy costco gas. They sell it so cheap because they bought it from ISIS who stole it from the Saudi oil fields. #factnews #wakeupsheeple

I should clarify that I don’t dispute what you have to say about not owning refineries, but what happens afterwards with additives is the difference, I was only taking exception to your comment regarding Top Tier fuels.

No arguments there, but there is a link to the study itself in that link. I also linked directly to the testing process report so you can get away from the subjective parts of the theory and get right to the facts.

How come Costco and BJ's don't have mid-grade? They both have regular and premium, but not midgrade, which sucks because my Tacoma gets better gas mileage on the highway with 89 and that's always what my snowblower takes.

    Only fill up at Costco.

That being said, I used to have a 500whp Subaru that ran on 91/E85. It always ran poorly with Costco gas vs. Shell or Chevron. I got the car retuned using Costco 91 and had no issues after that.

I still fill up at Costco only. I don't mind the 5 minute line.

All gasoline is not created equal; Some of it is of lower quality...

Twenty years ago, my parents had a brand new GMC Safari conversion van with the venerable 4.3L Vortec V6; They bough it new in Virginia Beach, right before we moved to Oak Harbor, Washington. My dad filled up at some no-name station and the CEL came on a short time later; Keep in mind that this was a brand new van with probably less than 8,000 miles on it, and an engine that used 87...

I wish we had costco in my town but we get by with BJ's wholesale and Sam's club. Both sell gas, neither are top tier. I have a membership to BJ's.
I been using the gas there in my truck since I got it.
The only other place I filled up was a Wawa in Delaware. We have Rutters and Sheetz here but only rutters is top tier fuel.
I went to Rutters mostly when i had a diesel because BJ's only sold gas. Now that I have the Tacoma it's been running BJ's regular just fine. I could pay $2.59 to 2.69 at rutters for top tier or at BJ's the pump price is $2.31 this week plus I get $0.10 off if I use my BJ's mastercard to pay for the gas. On top of that there are monthly high octane promotional items in the club you can get $0.10 off per each of them you might purchase.

Costco et al is about volume sales. Less variety, they sell more of what they carry.
