I matched my ECT shifting to my primary shifting and TC tables to remove those unknowns from the testing. Now say my downshift to 2nd table is set so that if I'm going 30 MPH it downshifts at 30% input or more. 30% pedal in D could be 30% throttle. 15% pedal in ECT could be 30% throttle so it downshifts with less input.

Try it for yourself make a one-off map matching the shifting and TC tables but go crazy with the throttle limit tables for one or the other, cruise at a certain speed and see how much less input it requires to downshift than the other.

If Mat is saying its accelerator than they would shift at the same pedal input but thats not what I'm seeing

Accelerator angle is definitely, without a doubt, the axis for the shift tables.

However, that axis is not the *only* thing that calls a shift. Requested torque will too. If you exceed torque request thresholds (calculated from throttle) it will downshift too.

The shift maps, and axis is only the *limit* or speed vs *limit* of accelerator. It's 1 piece of a much bigger equation.

That makes sense, so we can consider the shift tables as condition A and the torque request thresholds as condition B. If B isn't met than A is used. If B is met it will trigger a downshift/unlock. Do we have access to these tables? Are these the torque shifting tables?

I want to ensure I'm not unnecessarily abusing the transmission with excessive heat, in the pursuit of "performance" After all, this is a daily driver. When you look at online charts it says x temp equals fluid change after xx miles. I can't imagine that means if the temp hits 205 for 5 seconds that you now have to change your fluid according to the chart for 205 degree operating temps, right? It would be based off an average temp during an operating cycle? So if the majority of the time I'm in the 185-190 range for trans temp, I would then base my fluid changes off that operating range and not the occasional 205-210 I'll hit when accelerating hard.

    Agree?

Yes. You can easily get much higher temps towing or just at idle during the summer.

Best I can do is direct you to @Mooseditty17 and he'll work with you to get what you need and for drinking money he'll even throw in some special touches just for you. I think our goal is to make sure he doesn't sober up until COVID is gone.

Yeah, I thought you were one of the people that knew what they were doing... just had to make sure.

Anyway, congratulations on your shift map escape.

You can't just look a the pretty pictures! (I thought I explained well enough in the text... maybe not.)

    X is Accelerator
    Y is MAF

Second gear was the worst (and it's the gear you spend the least amount of time in). I think the lines going out right are an indication that I ran out of power; but, it didn't downshift. I'm not worried about that just yet; since, changing throttle limits and airload messes up shifting... I'm saving shifting for last.

If I purchase the Tune Pack with no intention of editing anything, do I need to purchase credits as well?

You'll get credits with the vF licence for one ECU Unlock. You don't need to do anything with them though. They will sit around.

I purchased this, I still need the tune pack to get pre-set tunes for my ECU (04B14) correct? But since I will be getting the turbos and that comes with a tune for the turbos perhaps the tune pack is not needed? @OVTune does the tune pack need to be purchased to receive the turbo tunes?

    Thanks for the help

I would like to wish all who celebrate a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
We will be closed tomorrow and Friday. But I will be working late tonight to ensure everyone is setup, and master key issues taken care of, etc.

If you could let me know if the tune pack is needed in order to receive the turbo tunes before you call it quits for the week that'd be great. If needed I'd like to save $90 and buy while on sale. Will be even nicer if you say its not needed and I save $390! haha Hope you have a great Thanksgiving too. I'll be stuck at work until 3. Will get home just in time for some turkey though.

How many files are included in the tune packs? I am an original flash kit owner who recently purchased VF Tuner, and I just want to make sure that I have all the files that are supposed to be supplied with the tune pack before digging in much further. In the mean time I and am still really enjoying Mild and Wild Premium 3.1.
