I'm on the fence about a tonneau cover for the truck. It would be nice to have the protection from the elements of whatever is low lying inside the bed, but at the same time, I like the open bed too. An open bed you can just throw whatever you want in the back including big stuff without having to manipulate a cover. I can't decide. Are you glad you got your cover, or do you kind of wish you would've just stayed open bed? Thanks guys, just stirring some thought.

Depends on how you use it. I have one on my '20 (A backflip hard folder) and had one on a F-150 for 10 yrs (Undercover hard folder). For me, they work out great.

In all the years I had one on my F150, I only took it off completely a handful of times. Never regretted having it, and it's never really stopped me from carrying any thing I needed to.

I just put my tonneau cover back on for some extra weight on the back for winter. I normally run without it unless my RTT is attached. It's a nice option to have, but I'm not one who wants to use it all the time. Mine is the factory Toyota cover. Just depends on how you use your truck. I haul bikes a lot and the tonneau cover doesn't work well with that.

I have a soft cover and love it. All my camping gear fits in the bed with cover closed and it rolls up if i need to haul something bigger.

I was looking at the BakFlip because I like the security and flush look of it, however it's a lot of money too. I might just pick up a soft cover and roll with that. I don't ever plan on running a bed rack or anything like that because I use my bed too much for utility reasons.

Love it. Use it. Never once regretted having a cover. Comes off easy if needed, goes on easy once off. Tyger is stellar for the price!

The security, looks, and easy access to the full bed of the Bakflip can't be beat. I had the Bakflip prior to my current softopper/bed rack and really liked it. So easy to fully remove if needed but easily fold up to have full access to the bed for hauling large items. Combine it with a tailgate handle lock to make it theft deterrent.

This is a sweet setup but damn $1k is a lot for a cover. I might settle for something more reasonable like the Tyger cover or something comparable.

I have the Xtang trifold. It does not lock (neither does tailgate) on my '11. I like it because I can temporarily keep items "secure", or at least out of sight when I leave the truck for short periods of time and it folds back easily with spring loaded holders when I have taller items, or 8 ft wood pieces which need to be leaned on top of tailgate. In addition, the front section (against the cab) is held down by large plastic wing bolts against the rail and can be loosened to expose the whole bed when I carry a bulk load of mulch, or compost and only takes a few minutes to reinstall.

I have the toyota Oem cover in my 2019 and don't really like it. I would trade it for a new truxedo lo pro lq in a second. The truxedo is a top of the line roll up cover, and once installed can be rolled up or removed in under a minute for full use of your bed.

I like it for security - my first truck didn’t have one and it was a pain to have to move stuff into the cab anytime I parked someplace (or have someone wait at the truck while the rest of us went in to grab food, haha). Now, I can leave stuff in the bed for days on end and not have to worry about anyone taking (or even seeing) my stuff.

I have a roll-up Bakflip, but my brother has the Extang tri-fold one and both are great, and easily get out of the way to load up the bed.

I have a soft tonneau sport cover . It rolls up easy and tucks up against the glass for full access to bed.one downside is that its not 100% water tight. And if you live in a climate wear it snows your bed doesn’t get filled up.. I also have a pace edwards tailgate lock witch deters people. I usually Just leave my fishing poles back thereIf you do alot of driving on the highway it can also benefit from improving gas mileage. I found on online for under $300. Hardest part of install was removing old bed rail screws

I have tonneau covers on both of my trucks. My Ford Super Duty has an Undercover Flex hard cover for extra security. My Tacoma has a Lund Genesis tri-fold soft cover. Both are fairly weather proof and provide excellent bed access. The soft cover can be quickly removed by one person. It just make sense to have a cover if you carry anything of value from time to time that you can't watch over. Whether you get a hard or soft cover depends on your wallet and degree of security you may need for you valuables. There are also studies that document improved fuel mileage by installing a bed cover.

I run a Softopper in the warmer months and an American soft tonneau in the Winter months. American is in the same price range as the Tyger. No issues except a little flap at highway speeds.

Until 4 years ago i had a Bakflip i got from a friend.
It was good for a couple of years till the panels began to accumulate water.
They eventually became waterlogged and froze in the Winter, making ripples on the aluminum panels.
When i removed it, the weight was unbelievable and took weeks for the water to seep out.
Luckily I got it for free.

Here's an old pic of my original American tonneau before I got the Backflip.
Lot of snow and didn't collapse.

OP, "on the fence" ? A soft trifold may fit your needs. Easy to install and remove. Lightweight and relatively compact. 8849F33F-341A-4F9D-8C01-08A2385571BD.jpg D924184D-604D-45D5-8104-88DAB0FDD161.jpg

Nice! I want to stay as low profile as possible. I don't like the look of bulky high sitting tonneau covers.
