    Hey guys, happy thanksgiving!
I’ve been looking at buying a RTT and found a treeline outdoor Gen 2 that’s being sold for 900$ (not currently in production on their website from what I can find). Seems like a good deal, but wanted to get yalls take on it as you have not let me down thus far! I haven’t found many reviews on TW/Youtube of the brand/model. Below is the pic of it set up on the sellers truck.

The wife and I decided if we get a RTT soon we’re taking a trip to a few national parks outside of the state before the new year. The views on the trip to @3pooches were beautiful, thank you for the first piece of the puzzle!

how do the dogs fit into the RTT? Based on my interactions with you the animals not being able to fit into the RTT safely would be a concern..

It will be snug. Size wise its roughly 8' long and 4.5' wide, about average for the soft top RTT's .We're both easily under 6' so would give the dogs (roughly) a 2'x4.5' space to hang out/sleep. We would zip it up if they were in it so no safety concern there.

I previously had a rtt that was similar to that in the sense of the overhang over the door. It was a pain to set up because there was a big metal U that had to be slid in and out of the tent to pop that out. Additionally it’s supposed to be staked out every time.

The other style is like this, where the tent just opens and windows/fly popped up with the poles.

scenario: wild animals apporaching and or roaming the close by area. dogs get startled and start barking or "clawing" against the tents fabric, ripping it and then taking a tumble.

that would be my concern for long life of the RTT.. on surface tent is cheaper to replace than something that is made to be RTT.

@EatSleepTacos I could see how that would get extremely annoying, I appreciate the first hand experience . After watching a current model setup video I learned (what a vestibule pole is) that their vestibule poles are hinged and fold down into the tent, not sure if its unique to them or just a new design. Kinda neat.

That is nice, and would make set up a lot easier. That’s different than how mine was.

I too had one with an overhang and honestly, it sounds like something you really want until you have it. It completely blocks airflow on that axis of the tent, you have to stake it or a breeze will catch the overhang and fold it up, and that extra fabric/pole is an additional 15+ lbs up high and makes packing the tent more of a pain. It thankfully leaked so I took it back to REI for one without the overhang. I do dig the folding design though... it would let you remove the pole and put it inside pretty easily which would make folding it up easier.

IMO if you buy one with the overhang, it needs to be because you plan on using an annex most of the time which I will say is a 100% great decision with dogs. It ends up being like a 4'x6' space for them other than the ladder on one end. Dogs up in the tent doesn't work really well unless you're talking small dogs because that space is smaller in practice than on paper.

Happy Black Friday; good luck out there! I had my own Black Friday conquest today via Craigslist, found a heavy duty floor drill press for $150 that I picked up this morning. I'm pretty pumped, been looking for something like this for a couple years now. Couldn't believe how clean it was, the pulleys look like they were replaced recently, and the runout on the quill is minimal. Looks like it didn't get much use. Can't wait to start using it.

Edit: Just found the date on the motor, 6/1999. It's a spry 21 years old!
