    First time poster.

Did a lot of mountain passes over this past summer with quite a bit of weight and 33x12.50s with stock gears. The tranny would stay round 215-220 during the steeps and every now and then creep up to 230.
Bought a Hayden cooler a few months back and had plans to put it in. As I was getting ready to put it in a couple weeks ago, something clicked in my head and I put it on hold.

I spend 50% of my time in the Truckee area during the winter and it can get pretty cold, so I started to wonder if a cooler was a bad idea when you're driving around and its 0 degrees outside.

I originally planned to put the cooler after the radiator for maximum cooling, but after thinking about winter I thought that it might make the fluid too cold and toyed around with the idea of putting it before the radiator so that the radiator can bring it up to a decent temp. However in the summer, that kind of kills the cooling that I originally wanted in the first place.

So I did some research and found the Derale Thermostat bypass and threw it in along with an inline magnet filter. Now hopefully I have the best of both worlds.

So I accidentally buried my truck in some snow tonight, got pull out backwards by a power wagon.

Power steerings messed up, doesn’t seem to be working very much or at all. Could snow have gotten somewhere it should’ve a messed with it? I didn’t see any leaking or anything, will check better tomorrow in the light.

If u were cranking it back n forth while getting pulled u might've worn it or broke it. That's how I blew the power steering in my 2wd dodge was cranking the wheel while I was getting pulled. Highly doubt snow causing issues like that otherwise with getting in nooks n crannies

Just the pump, drove it home with no power steering but was using both hands and my entire weight to steer it. Lucky was just an 80 dollar part. Was in mud, but I'd say the physics is similar with the motions. I just really don't see snow causing an issue unless a short maybe. Have u checked ur steering again this morning?

    Haven’t got to it yet.

How would one know for sure it’s the pump and not the rack?

rack failure = no steering at all?

Been quite some time since I've popped in here. Hope everyone has had a safe thanksgiving.

Just replaced my tires from duratracs to k02s. Swapped to new TRD rims as well. Need to sell the old rims. They are a bit banged up. Curious what you guys think they are even worth before i start making for sale thread(s)? Thanks

I'd post them for $400 and probably take $300 if it's the right person. Did you notice a difference in the backspacing between the two sets of wheels?

Thanks. I'm thinking of going ~$350 ->$300, since there are quite a few knicks and blemishes that are not easily visible in that photo (I have other photos that I'll post in a sale thread).

To answer your question, I didn't take backspacing measurements of both rims. But I know the offset of the FJ trail teams are 15mm. The TRD rims have an offset of 4mm. Leads me to believe the backspacing is different between both wheels. Unfortunately there are a few other differences in my setup, so its not a clean/direct comparison once installed on the truck. Duratracs were 265/75/R16. The new KO2s are 285/70R17. Overall stance is wider now. I do get minor rubbing of the tires when turning full lock. I have spidertrax 1.5 wheel spacers and ~2.75" lift. Surprisingly this only happens in reverse and not when in drive. Not entirely sure why...

Today my ABS decided it wanted to work for about an hour. Then after starting my drive back home it went back to not working with a solid ABS light oh my dash. Oh well.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
If there were rocks in the snow it wouldn't be too hard to set the truck blindly on one of the lines that crosses the rack in the back, they're not protected very much.
