Fluid film question

I’ve heard fluid film smells like shiz. I just got a new 2021 Pro, does the smell fade if you use it just on the undercarriage, or should I go with an alternative like T9?

 

Smells for a couple weeks, then it goes away. Works great. Will make you filthy every time you work on the truck.

 

Anyone have experience with T-9, I’ve heard it works well

I use that for other application like outboard motors. Works well, but would be pretty expensive to coat a whole truck and I find it washes off easier.

 

Truth. I now make sure I have gloves on when I work under my truck.

Yes, it’s thicker, doesn’t make as big of a mess when spraying it on, and doesn’t have that horrible smell.

 

During the winter do you just leave the underside alone and not wash it? Does it have any color or drip off?

 

I rinse the underside weekly with the soapy water nozzle at the carwash in the winter. Just don't blast it with high pressure. Sprays on as sort of opaque film, but I think Woolwax carries a black version now that might blend better. No drips, the stuff is pretty thick.

Yep, light spraying is fine with Woolwax, it took a lot of undercarriage washes this spring and summer and held up well, but don’t go crazy in the winter. And yes, black is available

 

It does, that’s why I said Woolwax. I did 5 years of FF, worked fine, no real complaints, but it stinks and messy when applying. Woolwax the last 2 years, I like it better, because solves those 2 issues, and it holds up a little better.

I used FF it's a little bit cheaper. You can get a 6 spray can pack with a long hose for about $66 on Amazon. Since I don't have a compressor I used those. Wool wax is more expensive and they say thicker and less stinky.
Mine smelled funny for few days and then in a week you could not smell it at all. I park outside but if you use a garage you might notice it more than I did and the smell might linger longer.
