Trust everyone is ok. Sorry to hear about your truck. Make sure you tell them about the condition of your truck. Appraiser may not look at your truck in person and will give a simple book value. Look up and know your truck value in your area and you can negotiate with them if you think offer is low. Here in Alberta my dad was a insurance appraiser for 25 years and often negotiated value within reason.
And yes it may be worth saving or find another that's up to you.
I'd have a hard time dealing with loosing my truck (baby) as well.
All the best to you moving forward.
    Your TW brother

It broke the spring center bolt. That's why the axle is all shifted out of place and the driveshaft slid apart at the splines. It really doesn't take a lot of force to shear that bolt. It's possible that the frames not hurt that bad or at all. It is possible that the axle shaft or axle housing are bent. The trucks definitely hurt, but it's not hurt like hitting an oak tree dead center at 60MPH.

    That would be nice!
He says he was doing 30 I was 35-40 gotta say I didn’t expect what I saw from what I felt. I did like 3 360s with the new rear wheel steer. Truck took care of me hope I can do the same for my truck.
I’ve had it since 2011 done almost 150k with it myself!

I’m sorry man. I hope insurance gets you where you want to be. In my experience, I’ve always been on the losing side even when not at fault. I really hope you can work it out.

    And that sweet racing stripe!!!!

see what the shop says. If they total it I would ask what the cost is for them to pull the frame and then run a flat bed or live with some redneck repairs. :notsure:

but. That’s me. Some people hold their vehicles to a higher standard. As long as mine is mechanically good, I’m good with it.

As mentioned the spring centering pin/ bolt sheared and forced the axle housing back . The frame looks good from what I can see but need to be measured to see if not in square . Definitely will need a new axle housing and leaf springs and new bed though

The damage looks repairable and not totaled

I agree not looking to make anything just be back to where I was. I’m sure it’s gonna cost me something. And if not I’ll put money towards it while it’s there!!

I liked having a paid for rig that was sound and also looked good. Any repairs were far less than a payment.

    I know right!

I was thinking the same just went for the worst I could I guess.
I was ready to start pulling add ons today the car rental place was freaking right beside the place my truck was towed to.

Would it be a big deal to put a lsd or locker rear to replace my current open diff.
If replaced, glass is getting half full I guess.

the bottles are all empty now though.

Had the same experience with my 1994 Toyota (Hilux) Truck in 2008. Bought it new, kept all of the maintenance up to date, and did smart upgrades along the way. It only had about 115K miles on it, and had taken me across the country and back. (Bought it in MD, transferred to San Diego, then Miami, then to VA.) It drove as good as the day I left the dealer's lot when I was t-boned leaving work. The truck was totaled. The rear axle had broken free, and was pushed back into the bed. Thankfully I was hit just behind the cab, so I was only bruised and battered. Nothing broken. The cab had been "flexed," and I had to shove the door open.

The driver at fault's insurance agency gave me a fair settlement (~$4K), but I wouldn't have sold the truck for twice that amount of money. It was mechanically flawless, and the condition of the body was excellent. There was little to no rust on the frame, or anywhere else. It had the LCE dual roller timing chain upgrade, LCE header, Borla Cat-back exhaust, Bilstein shocks, Aftermarket sway-bars, and a bunch of other small items. Heck, I had just put new tires on it about a 1,000 miles before the accident. I was not happy.

But my new 2008 X-Runner helped get me through the sadness. When it dies (or is killed), I'm heading back to Toyota to find it's replacement.

Better have an expert look at it, if you buy it back it's yours and you may end up with a lawn ornament. There is a lot of stuff beyond the frame that can't be fixed and the parts count goes up fast. Me I would take the money and run and be sure you tell the insurance co. your feeling pretty stiff and having trouble walking more than a few feet without pain.

    No that’s the muffler.
Only fluid loss was from the shock.
    Even the brakes still work.
    Parking brake not so much.

The truck is on its way to a shop I know here.
Sad to say it’s been there before.
They have a frame table etc.
First time since I bought it it’s been unable to drive.

I’ll be able to get a better look it’s been locked up.
I realize now that like said the pin sheared but it was the pin off my 1” block.
Hoping the diff housing is still good they don’t seem readily available.

I upgraded my worn out mechanical LSD to a Detroit Truetrac (torsen). The Truetrac performance is fantastic on the street, in the rain, in the snow, etc. Highly recommend you consider if get truck fixed and you choose to upgrade.

You have the 4.10 rear diff? Used complete full axle assemblies with third member are plentiful in your region on Car-Part.Com, $800-$1200 depending on mileage and condition. Is your axle bent?

    It’s a base 4banger 5speed 4wd.
    Open diff.
    Not sure if it’s bent.
I will keep them in mind if we fix it
Members picked up pretty quick the pin for the leaf sheared.
It was the pin on my block that sheared it’s still all bolted together and pushed back on the leaf still.
Maybe the pin on the housing is still good?
All the doors still work and the tailgate works.
    Composite bed didn’t look broken.
    Damm steps ripped the floor.
