2020 Tacoma OEM LED Headlight Megathread

I just recently purchased a harness from Mike. It was delivered within 2 weeks. Just note that the low beams are the plug with the single wire and highs will be the plug with 2 wires.

 

I just reached out to Mike and he says he is about 5 days lead. Question about the headlights...I read from a few they came aligned to stock height. Did you have to do any aiming?

 

I bought a set of Mike's harness and decided I am not going to use it. I can sell if anyone is interested.

 

Does anyone have output shots of the LED headlights against a wall? I can't decide if the projector style is worth it over the reflector e.g. Alpharex NOVA.

 

I didn't make any adjustments yet but the passenger side is alittle higher than the driver side.

 

Definitely hard pass on the AlphaRex products, OEM and Morimoto are drastically higher performing. AlphaRex isn't even a legitimate headlight, ridiculous foreground light and no distance light, the pattern is exactly opposite of what a headlight should be. If you really want them, order them for half price direct off of China Alibaba and cut out the middle man.

 

Mikes harness is far superior to the Morimoto harness. He even provides blank plugs for the side marker light harness that’s no longer used. I would definitely send him an email, took about 2 weeks to get mine but it was well worth the wait.

 

Mine were really low and uneven, they were cracked open and painted black though. I had to aim them but it’s a piece of cake, took less than 5 minutes

 

Mine was aimed at the ground... So had to adjust them. Thought i wasted 1.3k, was about to go through buyers regret.

 

Do you know if there any lumens testing with both?

 

Lumens is not a good indicator of performance. Often LED products don’t list actual lumen output anyway and just list a very inflated theoretical raw lumens. What you’d want to look for is candela, which is beam intensity. But no, neither product publishes measured output specs.

 

Is there only a vertical adjustment for the high and lows? After seeing some pictures from the backside it doesn't appear to have a horizontal. That would make it so much simpler to align out of the box and after a lift.

 

There’s only one adjustment and it’s for elevation. The headlights have a good enough cutoff that they’re quite simple to align, there’s a few tutorials on TW that show you how to properly adjust them. I don’t really measure anything, I adjust them both the same and then drive it. Usually takes a couple short trips to get it perfect but it’s very straight forward. All you need is a Philips head screwdriver with a long enough shank

I have.

They were the cheapest at the time. After 15 days of no movement they called to me ask for $200 more dollars due to shipping logistic issues. Went back to searching and got mine from OEM Partsource. Ordered on a Monday and they were delivered on that Thursday. OEM partsource was only a few more dollars but I have ordered from them for several other items, great prices and all have been great packaging and fast shipping, same week (when I order on a Monday)

Might have been a fluke at the time with the pandemic but was just my once and only experience with them.
