I am in the market for a thermal vision monocular and was wondering if any of the fellow hunters have any recommendations. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Haven’t hunted for 2 days, been letting things settle down after our first gun season. Sooo pitter patter time to get back atter. It’s misty, drizzley , and gray, perfect day to kill another big buck. Hunting a green plot wrapped by 2 acres of standing corn.39D2C77D-3500-4C74-A200-A546D928EE95.jpg

I admit deer hunting for mature bucks does take some luck, however I hadn’t killed a buck for about 7-8 years until this year. I don’t think I’m being overwhelmed with luck, good thing I just like hanging out in the deer woods!

Caved and got a rangefinder yesterday. Sig Kilo2000. I’m very impressed with the clarity and most of the reason I chose it is the red display becuase I can’t see black in low light. 61E7053B-2EBA-4D2B-899C-071942C8076B.jpg

I’m back in Missouri now so i will start up hunting here soon. Debating if I want to make a trip north or south a few hours to get out of the city and find some public land or just hunt what is close to me.

Eventful first night in Missouri. Followed good sign to a new spot that looked promising till I saw a stand and a fresh gut pile (looked like this morning) wide out in the open.

Crossed the levee the gut pile was up against and saw good tracks and some rubs continuing alongside the levee so I followed it for about 150 yards and set up high in a tree where I figured I would have a good vantage point in two directions to figure out where to set up on deer tomorrow.

Saw a doe about 400 yards away then watched a small 6 point follow a doe and two fawns from right where The gut pile was to around 80 yards. The buck chased the doe around and the doe and fawns ended up downwind of me and busted.

After they busted I watched a big 8 point walk through the woods at about 100 yards from where I first saw them to where they were headed. The fawns came back shortly after to feed at 80 yards and they left and I thought I heard the doe in the woods coming up behind them but it was the big buck. He stood there for ten minutes as light faded while I tried to get him to come in to a grunt call.

A few attempts later he eventually walked towards me and ended up stopping at 35 yards but he was quartering to and I held off hoping he would take a few more steps to a scrape that was 5 yards in front of him. As luck would have it he turned into the woods and did a half circle around me at about 40 yards and I could never shoot because of the thick brush.

I wish I could have pulled it off but I guess that is too easy.

if the deer are still chasing like I saw would it be worth trying to use some estrous scent or something tomorrow to many draw him in to where I can get a shot? I think I plan to set up on the ground in the morning then play it by ear for the evening. I’m tempted to just head in for the evening and skip the morning but it is really cooling down overnight. Any advice?

    Some rubs

Hello everyone! I have a question. My 13yo wants this:

XGEEK Compound Bow Ship from USA Warehouse,Topoint Archery for Women, Package M1,19”-30” Draw Length,10-50Lbs Draw Weight,Limbs Made in USA Hunting Bow for Girls,Whole Muddygirl Color https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D2884ST/ref=cm_sw_r_sm_apa_fabc_smrWFbV7M0Y4T

She wants to learn how to bow hunt. She has shot her friends bow and now she wants her own. Is this a decent beginners bow/setup?

Frosty and foggy here. Damn near pooped my pants on the way in when I got a bit too close to a couple beavers and they started smacking their tails. On the ground as well. Can barely see 50 yards right now so hopefully the fog burns off soon4FD5D608-6044-475F-ADCA-888E794D72C8.jpg
