2012 Info?

I am new to really looking at automotive news, and I have a question about the next model year. Is there a normal time when Toyota will officially release the changes for the 2012 Taco. Like, at a particular auto show or anything?

 

I was told the tacoma will be redesigned to resemble the current 4 Runner and that the FJ will continue on life support to be dropped once sales fall past a magic number. Per the marketing types the goal is to make the Tacoma more American, less of a "world" truck which to me implys it will be bigger and heavier than the current version (which is fitting as "We the People" are bigger and heavier than the rest of the world). Toyota is watching what happens with sales of the Ford Raptor - wouldn't be a shock to see a "mee too" Trophy class dress-up package.

 

The current Tacoma was first shown at the 2004 Chicago Auto Show, as a 2005 model.

 

the 2011's weren't even released for sale till aug.-sept. this year I believe. anyone with a 2011 can verify that?

Wait, news will be out in spring time if there's a new model for 2012 to get the hype up first.

 

Correct. The production date of mine was Sept 8, 2010. I think the earliest one that I saw was the last week of Aug.

Are you sure yours was built in Texas? I saw some new Tacoma's on a local Vancouver lot that had a 3 in the VIN which I'm assuming is Mexico, yet the 4 cylinders had a 5 in front of the VIN.

 

yeah, i too thought all the prerunners and trd's were assembled in mexico but i could have been told some bs.

theres also been plenty of talk that we wont see a redesign till the 2014 model year but its all just speculation till theyre ready to let us know or some car and driver snoop blows a underpaid security guard

 

I'm sure. Vin is a 5, has the Texas plant sticker on it.

 

no clue, I know my '07 X-runner was made in texas.

Either way, the rumours will come out in a couple months and we'll know for sure

 

Sorry dude. San Antonio plant in TX didn't start Taco production until summer 2010. Up to now they have only made Tundras. Your '07 had to be made in Fremont, CA (NUMMI) or Mexico.

 

God I hope they don't redesign the Taco like the current 4Runner. We had a 2003 4Runner V-8 and it was awesome. That's why I got a Tacoma. Now she's looking at Audi's. Thanks Toyota......

Have fun with Audi. 2 different friends have them and one of the 2 is on his Third because of lemon laws. The other friend is on his 2nd also because they lemoned it

I bought a brand new TT back in 03. I had suspension problems and 6 months down the road The engine started leaking oil. Stay away from VW and Audi.

disagreed. im not sayin theyre cheap to fix but by and large the vw's are pretty easy to own. if i did another i might sell/trade at 100k and save several thousand in repair bills that followed at 120k. i wasnt in on the oil pump tsb secret. now i pay more attention
