Not so much a mod to the truck, but an accessory...a hitch mounted carrier for the old snow blower.

sb carrier empty.jpg sb carrier loaded.jpg

If/when it snows, I'm on duty to clear my father-in-law's driveway. He's only 1/4 mile up the road and last year, I used a Jeep TJ with a snow plow. I don't have the Jeep anymore and am hesitant to attach the plow kit to the new truck, so I'm relegated to using the snow blower this season.

When driven onto the carrier, the snow blower wheels nest between two rungs, so it stays put well. The ramp pivots up and will be held by a strap.

The rack is aluminum, all of which was various material I had on hand. It's made from 1" square x .060" wall tube and 1/4" plate. The main support and receiver are 2" x 1/4" wall square tube. Since it hasn't snowed much in the past few years. I didn't want to spend a lot for a carrier just for this, so making it from scratch was a nice way to burn a Saturday.

And yes, for you snow blower experts, that is a 1984, Montgomery Ward, 24", 2-stage. Old as heck, but starts on the first pull every time.

Thanks @Snowman7878 !! Initially I only searched gift cards and it was indicating that they were sold out. So I tried going to the home page and from there I was able to purchase one. :spending: Now waiting for total tail stage 1 and DIY stealth shift knob kit.

Installed mine last night, warning they seem to be switching the spacers for the front/rear. I watched an instal video from like a year ago and the spacers were switched in the hardware packaging,,,,and installed mine yesterday,,,still the same for me. No biggie tho, YT video also mentioned watching for rust on the hardware, they are supposed to be SS, but seems like sometimes they are not.

OMG, never thought of this! I am in same exact boat, I plow my MIL/FIL, and my SIL and Betty (90 yo on fixed income), and loading the snow blower on something like this looks night and day easier than ramps to the bed! Nice SB! Almost as old as me,,,,and I definitely don't start on the first pull these days

I do that. Measure twice, cut three times, and then back to Home Depot for more materials! :annoyed:

I’m waiting for the Total Tail stage 1 as well. Judging by his Instagram story the other day, the total tails are in assembly now. Hopefully they will be available soon
