Thanks to Mooseditty17 and his assistance, I just completed editing a file to be the exact replica to the M+W 3.1 version for 04B81. Can't wait to re-flash the truck to this update. Before I do so, does it matter which fuel octane to utilize (Regular, Premium)? I currently have a full tank of regular 87 fuel. Thanks again Mooseditty and everyone in this thread that have been super helpful, I'm stoked!

Depends on which file you started with. If you started with a regular octane file, you are fine.

    I wouldn’t mind trying out a M + W 3.1 tune for 04A61. I’ve only heard good things about it!

Sure don't mind sharing here. Included is the file just for fellow 2020 regular stock Tacoma owners at this time. May eventually do one for the Premium down the road but its a start for those 2020 owners wanting to try it. Came back from a 40mi run with the truck and man it runs amazing, I'm impressed! Mooseditty17 did a hell of a job setting this up. I barely put my foot on the accelerator and the truck goes! It picks up speed real quick and that's with the ECT (Wild) button engaged. Keep in mind it is specifically tailored to my 265/70/16 tires, stock gears and may need to be adjusted based on your truck setup. If anyone needs any help, I may be able to help or also get with Mooseditty17 and PapaRee for guidance. Enjoy!

So as far as the gear hunting on the highway, is there an approach to help with this as far as using the downshift tables?

I have been getting good results by increasing the min downshift speeds at approximately 0-20% pedal and decreasing the downshift speeds at about 20-50%.

So on this table for example which is downshift 5-6 you’re saying increase the speeds for the first 4 cells then decrease cells 5 and 6?

Here are my current up and downshift schedules for the highway gears. All of my primary shifting and acceleration shifting tables match identically. For the most part I am experiencing smooth and predictable shifts because I am operating the truck in the power band. I am still making small changes by increasing minimum speeds at low pedal, and decreasing speeds at moderate pedal. They are a pretty big change from stock / 2.0, but everyone knows this truck has nothing to give at less than 1500 rpm. I see no point in even trying to operate there for the most part. For mileage I am averaging about 20.5 mpg, mixed city and highway, and I am not scared of giving it the beans, either.

I compared them to mine and they are only off a few +/- on all tables. I wonder if matching my Acceleration tables would help do the trick. Mine are still stock 2.0

Also I noticed that my 4-5 and 5-6 tables for Acceleration Downshift and Upshift tables are maxed out to 255.999. Not sure if I need to change those to match my Primary Tables or leave them as they are.

You may try to increase airload per gear for 20-40% of accelerator angle.
    Also optimize tc unlocking

Happen to notice the accelerator, the speed and the engine load on downshifts?

I made my throttle limit S maps match the Normal maps a long time ago. The tribal knowledge on here indicates this may help the truck shift sooner. We’re told the optimal transition torque for shifting maps can trigger a shift based on throttle angle. So this is another direction you can go in.

In general I think the name of the game is to operate the truck in a higher torque state at light pedal input, whether through accelerator, throttle, shift, or TC lockup maps. This way you have power in reserve to modulate power delivery through the throttle plate instead of through the transmission by shifting everytime you need a change. Now since I have a better gear to start with, I am having success slowing down the downshifts as the pedal increases, giving me more room to modulate power with the throttle.

Previously highway driving was mostly 6, 4, and 3 gear. Now I am primarily in 5, downshifts to 4 only when I need it, upshifts to 6 only when cruising on flat ground. Still getting unwanted downshifts to 3 on steeper hills though that I have not yet figured out
