Is there a way to know what version software I have installed. I bought my 2020 truck on 10/31/19. The build date shows 10/19. My VIN is the CZ5AN.

The TSB came out on Sept 2019 before my truck was built. I hate to make an appointment at the dealer just to tell me I already have the newest version.

The TSB came out in Sept 2020. You most likely do not have this ECU version if your truck was made in Oct 2019.

Thanks for the catch.. I misread the TSB as Sept 2019. Looks like I’ll make an appointment. Thanks again.

My 20 Sport was built in Nov 2019 and it did not have the new software version.

I went on a 400km road trip today. I'm totally impressed with this update...2/3rds of it with cruise on at 117kph.No crazy shifting, and when it did shift it was much smoother. 1/3rd on a secondary rd at 95kph..no cruise ,the throttle is much more responsive. Could have been picked up for speeding..which would have never happened before. Happy taco owner here.

FYI - I went to have my maintenance done this morning...I asked about the TSB, they did it , no problem and they did the fuel pump as well.

The dealership did the TSB this morning (no charge) - they did the fuel pump as well.

Noticeable improvement? I went from 04B03 in my 2017 to 04B81 in my 2020 and it was night and day.

I just drove to the office - 2-3 miles...as usual I will be driving about 1K miles this week - I'll know soon...to be honest I really had little issue with the drivability before. I am curious to see - I'm going to do some business this week where I will drive over some (small ) mountains.

I will say I was very impressed the dealership had zero issue doing the TSB for no charge, considering I'm over my mileage...on the other hand I go in to them every 5K miles for service, bought my last set of tires from them (almost time for another set), so it is good business.

You're definitely lucky, probably have good rapport with the service department. I tried to help out a few guys at work with 3rd gens and getting their ECU's updated. None of them had any luck with dealerships in my area. They all got told "that's just how it drives," and was sent on their way. Now that I have the appropriate OBD interface, I was able to update them and just updated my 2nd half's Camry over the weekend.

Wonder if this TSB will be applied to 2021 models at some point? I’m only 1100 miles in on my 2021, but it definitely likes to gear hunt.

    That's nice of you.
Yeah the service dept is and has been very accommodating...in fact I never have an appointment, I just show up at 7am on the day I want and I'm in and out.

I'm curious about this as well - sorry if I missed this - is there a way to determine if it's already been applied? I have a 2021 with about 860 miles on it - it definitely seems to hunt more than it should, but I'm not positive that it's not better than it could have been if the TSB wasn't already applied

2021's don't apply to this TSB. My 2020 came factory with this update so I assume the 2021's are arriving with the most up to date ECU firmware.

That seems to be how it works. The best indication will be seeing what the 2021s ship with about mid way through the year.
