The KO2s have gotten me out of all kinds of situations and they are one of the toughest tires out there, also great weight, 51lbs for a the 285 70 17.
Definitely one of the best AT tires out there

The original Geolanders are quite different than the GO15 tire. I would be really surprised if you blew a sidewall on the GO15 in a LT. The G015 tire is a completely different tire. Need to compare apples tire apples. I ran the GO15 on our FJ all over the lava rocks where we live plus many trips to Moab and never once did we ever have a problem with them. I highly doubt you will find a member on here who has blown a sidewall out on one.

Was the KO2 you shredded 10 ply? I’ve never heard of a side wall on the 10 ply puncturing.

10 ply on the original and a C tire on our recent KO2. Just Google KO2 sidewall cracking or blown. Plenty of people have had issues with this tire.

Sure, but likewise about apples to apples you are comparing a 10 ply GO15 to a 6 ply KO2.

Just a bit of hyperbole in this thread. I totally understand that the KO2s might not impress on wet pavement and snow. But we’re getting into goofy town saying the E rated KO2s have weak sidewalls. Come on man. They are stellar in their natural habitat.

Looks like a lot of folks have KO2 and they generally work OK. Not the best as you say. You are correct about that.

Now also looks like you have a hatred boner for KO2 and frankly I'm fine with your opinion (sounds like this will piss you off). AND my opinion on the matter, which I am squarely entitled too last I checked.

    NOT a KO2 fan boy!

I'm not comparing the 10 ply GO15 to the 6 ply KO2 tires. Check the review out on the apples to apples comparison of the tires from the Tirerack review. NO COMPARISON between the two tires in how they perform. Its proven the GO15 tires is a superior tire in almost all situations. And please Google KO2 sidewall cracked or blown and then try the same thing with the GO15. You will find a ton of threads with people having issues with the sidewalls on the KO2 but you will be hard pressed to find many on the GO15.

Do your research and don't just listen to me or other people on this site. Its has been proven since the original KO tire came out that people have had issues with the sidewalls on this tire especially when airing down. If you just wheel in the dry stuff and don't do technical trails that require you to air down and maybe your not carrying a lot of weight then a KO2 and a lot of other tires will perform admirably. Not saying its a terrible tire. There are just betting choices it you do a lot of driving in the wet or have to air down when you wheel.

I get that, but why would I believe other peoples reviews when I’ve put the KO2s through the paces first hand. I’ve driven 60 mph on a rocky fire road. I’ve jumped my truck at pismo aired down to 13-15 psi. I’ve crawled granite in the Sierra. I’ve bombed through bumper deep powder to my cabin. In addition to daily driving. Not a single puncture

They’re definitely not perfect. But puncture prone off road is definitely not an issue.

Also consider they are one of the most popular truck tires. There’s going to be a lot on presence online, good and bad.

I don't dislike the KO2 tire. It just gets me that so many people buy them just based on the way they look and not because it meets their needs for where and what they travel on. If people actually read the reviews and comparisons would all of them still be buying the KO2? Yeah, probably most would simply because they like the way they look. But if you were to base your decision on actual tests and data and which tire performs the best for what they will be using it for, then not nearly as many people would be purchasing this tire. That's basically all I'm saying. But most people don't educated themselves on what's the best option for their needs. Just like so many people purchase Tacoma's and never take them off road. There are better trucks out there if all your doing with it is being a road queen. But people buy Tacoma's and KO2 tires just because they look good. I just don't get that. But everyone has the right to their opinion and has the right to purchase whatever they want. Just would be nice to see people educate themselves a little more and purchase items that meets their needs not just what looks good.

Would be interesting to see a sales table comparing tires the same way they do it for trucks...

And let me ask you this and please be honest. Did you purchase your KO2 tires based on what others have said about them on here or maybe on how they look? Or did you go online and research them using professional reviews and data and then made you decision? Just curious.

I had a set of these installed on my F150 a year ago yesterday. E rated 275/70/18's. Best rain tire I've ever had. They do well in mud and ride great on the road. Quiet so far, but it is common for tires to get louder as they wear down. I'm at 17,000 miles now. I haven't had them in snow yet, but they are 3 peak rated.

Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus (tirerack.com)

I considered K02's, but when I saw these side by side with them it was a no-brainer. Being $300 cheaper for the set didn't hurt either.

I’m not clear where you are getting these bad reviews from. Searching “KO2 reviews” on google gives pages of stellar reviews from online 4x4 magazines, off road blogs and customers. It’s all positive.

Not sure what turned me on to the KO2s. Probably knew about them from TW and read reviews that are online before buying. They’re a popular tire for a reason. People aren’t being tricked into buying them.

That being said I will be focusing on snow performance for my next tire as my taco is less of a daily driver, but I like taking it to the mountains. And the KO2 is definitely average on snow.

I bought them because they are one of the best all round tires, strong, good traction, great weight, and look good.
Bought them before I even knew about Tacoma World.
