Sooner or later. When I get around to pulling the rest off. Haven’t touched the Taco in a while

Or throw it in a mill and take the edge off. I would give 1/4-1/2” clearance. My engine rocked pretty good, but maybe my OEM mounts are junk. I never got around to installing the solid motor mounts... not sure if those would help clearance or not??

OK I have tried to be patient waiting for someone else to ask, but I CAN'T be the only one wondering what happened for you to put so much time an effort and $ into this just to jump ship? Was the problem diagnosed?

True, a lot of time and effort did go into the build. It was a good learning experience. But in the end, even with the turbos... I knew deep down this motor (and trans) wasn’t the real match for this truck. Sealed the deal when I was doing some pulls. Wasn’t logging or had a refined tune.. which is risky as you can see. White smoke and cylinder 3 has no compression. I haven’t dismantled the stock block to see what the failure is. I’m not mad at all, I prepared for it. You also have to understand my setup was very custom, quite different from the kit OV’s has to market. It was just the tipping point to make the call and go to a REAL motor. One with a few more cylinders.

Well shit.

Without a doubt a lot of people will be waiting to hear the outcome of the diagnosis including myself. The pending success of these is the one thing that has me considering a 3rd gen.

My knowledge on the engineering of these systems is very limited, but as a participant of the internet I will throw unsolicited darts anyways.

Is this likely to be an oiling issue? If so maybe too much fipg was applied to your oil pan as seen in this picture:





In any case Im truly hoping this was just a mistake in installation/application for all of our sake.

I just wanted to throw it out there for future installers, the volume of fipg used can most definitely grenade an engine as cured pieces can block oil galleries. When I apply it I just butter it on with my fingertip @ less than 1mm thick.

It was him going to hard on it without any tuning, and overheating the engine. A bunch of things contributed to it, but it was pushing it without checking anything tune wise + overheating the engine from the coolant setup.
It blew from that quarter mile pull video he posted. You can hear it det like crazy at the top of 3rd. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the culprit ended up being air in his coolant causing a hot spot on bank 1.
We also have no idea what kind of heat is generated from the dwell settings for those aftermarket coil packs, and why we don't recommend them.
I wish MESO would build the 3.5L, but he wants crazy 4 digit power now.


It isn't something I expect will happen to anyone else. But, like I said a few times, all of you who have your own intercoolers, modified piping, etc, we will need logs. It's not optional.
