    I'm thinking about doing the CS144 alternator upgrade soon.

    First of all to those of you that are running the cs144, are you happy with it?

    Also, does anyone know if this alternator will fit with total chaos coil bucket gussets? My factory alternator already doesn't leave a whole lot of room between it and the gusset.

    Also needed a longer belt to give oil cooler lines more room. The power steering belt is the correct length.

    gm made multiple pulleys for different combos. If you look at the pic of my belt and pulley you'll see why it has to be the 6 groove pulley. 4 groove wont work.

    Oh I see, it rides on the outer portion of the pulley so the 4 groove wouldn't put the belt in line with the other pulleys. Thanks for pointing that out.

    Only thing I would do different from below would be leave the oil cooler coolant hose alone and use the longer PS belt.

    My spacer is a fair bit wider than the 1/4" most folks use.

    The bushing below needs to be flush to the rear surface of the front mount ear (to start).
    It ends up protruding out the front a bit (yellow arrow).

    Prototype BINFORD BUSHING PUSHER kept in the glove box. The OE alt will fit in an excab pass side cubby.

    Can you explain why it is that the oil cooler line sometimes needs to be modified?

    I don't think I'll have belt issues because I'm supercharged and have the dynamic tensioner. In other words, I have a ton of belt adjustability.

    Can someone link a cs144 they bought that worked without needing to swap out the pulley? I'd like to just buy the right one and not have to figure out if mine has the correct pulley or not.

    I was just about to ask about this alternator and supercharger with the dynamic tensioner.
    I was thinking the same...I don't think it would need a new belt.

    I used the same one @mechanicjon used, Delco #335-1048 and the pulley it came with. This was on my 99 and two 98's. He/you have 04's. I am not at all convinced that the mount brackets (Toyota) are the same for all years.
    The thing is, the factory alt is "located" by the rear ear of the bracket and the Delco wants to be up against the front. Sooooo as far as Toyota is concerned the machining of the rear ear is critical and the front only needs to be far enough forward to allow the alt to fit in between. There may be a fairly large range in the spec when they machine the front and it may vary. This is pure speculation. Also note my spacer is around 3/8" while most folks use an off the shelf 1/4". It was machined wide enough to provide a snug fit.

    This alt is used in many GM applications. If searching a junk yard or a parts house (without a Delco pt# reference) "1996 Buick Roadmaster V8" can be used as an application.

    I can't help with the blower vs belt fit. I would however give some thought to the fact that with the blower, the belt has less of a "wrap" on the alt pulley. Under a full amp load the potential for belt slippage would increase. A while back a fellow (with blower) mentioned having slippage issues but he was using some super high output alt.
    @mechanicjon has a blower/04 and seems happy so he might chime back in.

    I am using a reman'd cs144 from Advance Auto. Their part # is: 8112-5A

    It is a very tight fit with the TC tower gussets, but does fit and no issues. Also running the pulley that it came with using a power steering drive belt.
